Throttlemeister Help!

I just purchased a set of Throttlemeisters and can't for the life of me figure it out. It appears that the inner adaptor is too long as the end just isn't close enough to the friction sleeve.. by alot!

I have an '05, and that's what the assembly DEstructions say I got. The adapter Kit says it's a AY-R1-H with the inner adapter being an IAR1.

If I don't use the inner washer thingy, the gap is correct but the assemply will not tighten up. The left side is the same way, too big a gap.

Any ideas? Am I just stoopid?

You have to remove the stock inserts in the bars, then install the inserts that came with the TM.

I did, I have no spare parts.

It just seems to be too long. This is as far in as it goes (wahcked it with a rubber mallet as much as I dare). The friction sleeve is flush against the throttle tube.

There's a step in the bars that the rubber rings on the TM have to get past. If the TM has been tightened without being in the bar the rings will be pushed out and wont clear the step. Also, I put a little white grease on the rings.

The only other thing I can think of is a problem with the original inserts. Sometimes they leave the steel bushing behind in the bar. If it's there the TM won't go in all the way. Nice pics by the way.

You have to whack it more. :assassin: Don't worry, the mount *does* go in farther, as the bar is hollow. In fact, a tight fit is good, because when you tighten down on the bar end you won't risk pulling out the mount at all. When I "whacked" mine in, I mounted my bar end to it with the bolt, then used a piece of wood and a hammer to tap it in until the bar end was pressing against the tube (I don't own a rubber mallet, though I really should), then pulled on the bar end until it slipped back out just enough to activate the friction lock.

This was *definitely* a more 'tricky' install than on my last bike, which had threads inside the bar end; there I just had to use spacers to set the right gap. However, I've had mine on for about 1500 miles now without any problems, and it works great.

The bigger hammer was the trick :yahoo: Went out to try evil_henchman's lubeit advise, said some dirty words, wacked it with a little more azz behind it and presto, in like flint.
