Simply put it got installed by my shop guy. Worked great two or three times then loosened up and was worthless. He fixed it used it two or three times today, damn thing isn't working again. I am not happy!

He installed it wrong. When installed correctly that thing will work forever. Over time it can loosen up a bit but, one light tap inward will tighten it right up. If you have no mechanical skills ask some one else to do it. That thing is easy peasy to install. :)

Do you have an Allen Wrench? If so, take the end of the TM off and work with it until its adjusted correctly. Loosen it up and move it, very slightly, back and forth. It will take a couple tries, but once you get it it stays pretty well.

Double check that the plastic ring seared under the grip rubber is seated correctly. If it's moving around or moving back and forth, the TM won't work. If mine was moving, I'd use just a small dab of RTV or contact glue to make it stick.

It shouldn't be that hard.

I bet you can either download them, YouTube them, or call TM and they'll send them to you. The instructions made it pretty easy.

Hell, if I can find mine, I'll scan them and email them to you.

I'll try digging online some more. I found some that just had text only and didn't make any sense to me.

Also make sure you have all the things that came with it. Special parts and stuff for the install that will stay in the box for the rest of your life after you're done. :)

Worst case, PM me your address and I'll send you my box of the items needed for the install and the instructions. Please send them back though! :)

I have an '06. You have an '03. Does it make a difference? Are the GenI and II the same?

Not really, VIc....Gen Is don't usually self-destruct their electrical systems on a whim.

(hadn't had a Gen II shot in a while...this felt GOOD!)

But, on topic, the Throttlemeister for the Gen II is the same POS it was for the Gen I.

Yeah Vic...Totally different bikes. That's why the only ones replacing engines are the GenI dorks. The bars on the bikes are the same though. It's just that the GenII bikes are put on a quality machine.

I'm glad you guys are here! Haven't had a good GenI/GenII hair pulling, bitch slapping free for all in a while. Ahhhhhhh I feel better now! :))

You two guys are the only people on the Forum Bitch Slapping each other above their Avatars!! You guys should just go ahead and get a room! :))

If all else fails, don't be afraid to call Throttlemeister. I had a little trouble figuring out if I had installed mine correctly. I called them and the guy walked me through what it should feel like when installed; very helpful.

Wouldn't work out, Vic....'zilla would monopolize all the storage for his girly undies and hand lotion. :p

The Throttlemeister comes with a number of different shim thicknesses. A lot of owners don't get them because the installer doesn't pass them along, but you can order replacements. Read the directions and install correctly with the right shim and it will work great. Thinking it is just a throttle lock you screw in to compress the throttle is a guarenteed fail. I'm still waiting to meet the first dealer who can properly install these.

If you haven't worked it out yet. Do call the company. I had problems with installation on my 09. The owner walked me thru the process and sent me different innards that fixed the problem. Very satisfied with their customer service.

Bill
