I got my FZ1 today, and the throttlemiester doesn't work. It gets a little tighter when twisted to the lock position, but it won't hold the throttle. Anyone know if there is a way to adjust these things or reinstall it, or is probably just messed up.

On a side note, the FZ1 is a fun bike! Did my first accidental wheelie already. That thing comes up easy!

Congarts on the new bike! Is it a Gen 1 or a Gen2?

Either:

1) adjust the TM by removing shims, or

2) If there is a throttle tube dampner (not sure of the name), it may need new o-rings as the others are not providing the proper friction/suction.

Try to tighten the bolt on the end of the bar and it will increase the friction. If it vibrates loose you may need some thread lock. Getting it perfect is a trial and error. Congrats on the sweet ride.

Gee Keith,Havent you crashed enough already? The FZ1 is a riot no matter what generation it is.The Throttlemeister is a pretty straight forward installation.Like the previous post it a little trial and error.Make adjustments with the shims and tightening the screw to get more pressure on the rubber sleeve.I am not sure how many throttle springs on the FZ but if it is like the FJR with the really strong springs you may want to release one.A word of caution. If you are planning to use heated grips some are ok but some are too hot and could melt the rubber.Melt that rubber and you could stick the throttle making you president of the crash club again!

In addition to tightening the end bolt, make sure that the TM is shoved fully into the handlebar by hammering it in with a rubber mallet or whatever. The combo will usually snug things up perfectly.

OK...You can call me "stupid" if you like but I just bin to the "Throttlemeister" site & nowhere does it tell me what the F@#* they do. Are they just "bling" or do they perform a technical function?

It's a throttle lock/bar end combo. Slide your hand over a bit, twist it counter-clockwise and it hold the throttle open with friction on the end of the bar.

You either like it or hate it.

I find mine invaluable. ;)

Note: Bob's BMW sells one (more of a knock-off) but it's bass-ackwards, you have to turn it clockwise to make it grab and it is horrible.

I think it would be a very nice feature, IF IT WORKED!!!!

Well at least it made the amount of tension required to hold steady speed minimal. I think it still helped, but I would have like for it work like it is supposed to. It is supposed to actually hold the throttle when it is set, isn't it?

I haven't gotten into is yet, I was exhausted after the 6 hours of highway riding and wanted nothing more than to sit on my arse. Will get into it tonight, but I do not think it is loose. I tried to just tighten it, and couldn't even get the thing to turn.

On a side note FJR919 - It's a genI, yellow and black. It has some nice upgrades too. 2 bro's carbon fiber exhause, dale walker jet kit, dale walker timing advnancer, throttlemiester (well sort of).

It is very nice doubling as bar end weights. Not cruise control but very helpful in resting the right hand. Takes a little getting used to setting it though.
