O, Woe is me!!
Twice-yearly we are invaded by the loud-pipes guys, in packs of trailers on US-231 south into town. Several places around the beach set up sponsored venues, so the rally is free to the riders.
This year I didn't see anything incredibly stupid from the riders, although I heard a lot of sirens in the distance all day. There were a lot of crowded packs on the road, where if any bike had an issue, they all would have had issues, but I saw nothing happen to those packs.
I couldn't care less about any of the venues, but I make a habit of wandering the parking areas to see what I find, as some folks bring some pretty nice bikes to these things.
Parking area at the Lavela club:
I parked across the street, near this bike, with some really nice ghost-flame paint:
Some people spend an awful lot of time cleaning bikes!
I can't help myself with these Indians. My arm brings the camera up, my finger presses the button. I can't stop it!
Yes, sir, we have that in black. Would you like a black one, then?
"You know what would just make this bike? A purple tail and wheels!"
Italian is sexy, wherever you find it.
Twins!
Honda Fury, factory "chopper," complete with stuff falling off of it.
Korean Hyosung GV650:
Got myself a self-portrait in the windhield button!
The camera didn't quite pick up the depth of the blue on the ZX-14.
Not much sheet metal, but very nice paint on what there was:
Yamaha content - Nice clean Virago:
more Yammy - V-Max in the queue to get into the lot.
Now at the Barefoot Beach Resort venue, a Kwak Z1000, naked liter:
M109R in . . . . . GREEN
Classic Triumph
Beetle-powered trike
My son had one this color stolen in Hawaii. Pretty sure this isn't it, not his pipes.
Another venue parking area, this at the Edgewater shopping plaza
Very nice paint on an old GoldWing with sidecar
Honda Magna V4
Metallic - - - - Butterscotch?
Get to da CHOPPA!!!!
Paint detail:
Another one. If this one's running, it won't be hard to find, unless you have absolutely 100% hearing loss.
Perhaps the only bike more out of place than mine!
Triumph Rocket III. 2.4 liters!
More out-of-place visitors:
I sincerely hope this guy lost a bet. A big bet. But with the women's halter top and yellow nails, I just don't know . . . . . Eeeewww!
German sidecar action!
Last venue I went to, Frank Brown Park.
These outriggers I just don't understand . . . . training wheels???!!?!
and look what it does to the rear tire:
R6 in "proper" colors
Buell trying to bad-***. Too bad that motor's in the way!
Do we know you??
GS1100ES. guy came up just as I was walking away, chatted with him a bit. Says he's built the bike as a drag bike, runs 5s in the 1/8-mile.
Another "do we know you?"
Front fairing on a Harley alomost makes it presentable.
One thing you can say about Victory - - They have VERY nice colors and paint!
Yes, a dragster-style scoop, complete with butterflies, will make your bike way more powerful than it ever coulda otherwise been!
