Michelin PR2's is the favored tire for many...but, some even (go to the dark side and) use car tires.

I'm putting my second PR2 on the rear end today. I love those tires.

I did a sportbike safety course yesterday and was tearing it up on the FJR. All the guys on "sportbikes" were in awe.

I have tried them all, I own A bike shop the best tire so far is the dunlop D616!!! For the record the worst ever was the continental!!!

How do you ride? What kind of tire life have you gotten so far?

PR2s have a good rep, but also tend to change character after about half of their life from what folks say. More sporty would be Avon Storms or Storm Ultra, though Avon has a history of spotty quality control. I haven't heard issues with the Storms though, aside from not wearing as long as the previous Azaros.

It comes down to what do you want in tires? Long life, easy turn in, maximum traction?

After three rears and two fronts of PR2's I didn't notice any differance in performance in theire second half of thread, than most other brands....of course fresh tires always feel good/better.

Good to hear Petey. Only on my first front PR2. Some riders are more sensitive to changes than others, but I agree, fresh tires always feel better than worn tires.

3 out of 4 front storm's I've mounted have been bad. No more Avons for me.

I had an interesting comparo:

2006 FJR1300 w/PR2's (more aggressive rider)

1999 ST1100 w/Storms (less aggressive rider)

We left MN with fresh tires, 8000 miles later, back in MN. We rode the same roads, carried the same loads.

In the end, storms and PR2's had about 2000 miles left in them. PR2's were still round; Storms had a wide flat spot and developed a near tankslapper with no hands on the bars (didn't do this the first 4-5k).

More power, different sizes, and different riding styles ... but also same roads and mileages. Keeping in mind the above conditions, PR2's win.

Since I had a fresh set of Storms in the garage I put them on the FJR1300. It was nice to get fresh rubber, but there's that damn mid-speed wobble again, and since I mount my own tires there's no warranty. I'll say it again: Will never buy another Avon (unless forced to).

More sporty would be Avon Storms or Storm Ultra, though Avon has a history of spotty quality control. Front Storms cup badly and don't wear as long as the previous Azaros.

I am on my second set of Dunlop RoadSmarts - the best tire for the money I have ever used.

I am at 8700 miles on the second set, first set got 9250 and for $250 a set - they are hard to beat!

Plug they have very good wet and dry traction.

I run 38psi rear / 36 psi front.
