Hey,

Just set up a nomar tire changer and balancer that a friend and I split the cost on. If anybody wants to bring their rims over or the whole bike for that matter, I can put new skins on. Also if anyone is on a long trip and needs to get new tires on, just forward your tires and make some arrangements for a time to be here.

I'm thinking about getting one of these pups. Any tips on how to keep it from using so much space when not in use???

Not really,

I'm thinking about getting some large hooks and hanging it from the garage wall or rafter. I bolted it down with 1/2" concrete inserts so its easy to unbolt and move out of the way. The post and upper arm are also removable so it can be broken down into a couple of parts.

Mogan,

They make one the fits into a 2" hitch receiver. If you have a truck with a 2" reciever hitch you can just slip it into that when in use.

650cent,

Im doing a 8k ride next June and will need to replace the rear tire somewhere in the northwest. We are still working on the route. If it turns out we will be close to you, I may take you up on your offer.

I recently purchased just the NoMar bar for my HF changer. Have had less than stellar results with the bar end that is supposed to mount the tire. Stiff sidewall tires require a different technique and the NoMar bar has issues IMHO.

They have added a handle that give you leverage against the bar twisting. If you did not get that piece then buy it. It's only $10. I ordered one yesterday.

The NoMar bar is a GREAT tool for removing the tire. The single delrin end does a wonderful job and does not scratch anything, as long as you are careful when you hook the bottom bead to remove the tire. Make sure the bar end is the only thing touching the rim and that the metal bar itself does not contact the rim. In other words be careful and watch what surfaces are making contact.

NoMar is currently showing a set of extended and specially made tire spoon bars. Set of four (2-21", 2-16") for $120 that they recommend for doing stiff sidewall tires. In my limited experience, I have found my best success on FJR tires is using the NoMar bar for removal, and spoons for installation. So yesterday I also ordered a set of the new NoMar spoons. Review soon forthcoming since I had two flats in six days last week.

:( :( :(

I have a suggestion for how to mount your tire changer and get it out of the way when not in use. Have been sitting on these pics for a couple weeks. Will do a more complete thread when I have settled on my complete tire changing solution. But for now here's a peak at my portable tire changer stand. It rolls but does not rock. :D :D :D

Jeff,

I also got that stuff when I bought the Nomar on ebay, package deal. By the way, watch your toes when you are rolling that thing around.
