Doctor Throckenstein !!!
Just got off the phone with Dirty Dave himself. He's a biker. DIRT and street kind of biker. Has a "unique" little shop in Reno according to his webpage.

Dave has offered to work with us and help us get tires (and whatever) at his shop in Reno. I've given him the specs and he's going to try to get some tires specifically for our bikes. He gets $25 to dis/mount and balance a tire on a rim. THIS IS THE PRICE EVEN IF YOU BRING YOUR OWN RUBBER!!! Shop rate for the whole job with your bike in the bay. Service is open Tues through Sat til 6. I'm goig to try to get to the hotel, drop my wheels and get to his shop ASAP in the afternoon. Hope you guys are there with the tools ready to work right after lunch on Thursday
I don't know this guy, don't know anything about him. But he sounds eager to help and wants our business. He has a "real" tire machine with a computer spin balancer, and takes responsibility for rims and bike condition and stuff like that. Has worked with show bikes (you know, $7500 rims and such), and he's confident about his tech's ability to please us.
Dave gets his stuff through Parts Unlimited, and there is a warehouse not too far from Reno. So in a pinch, he can get tires fairly quickly if they are in stock. I am ordering and paying for a set over the phone so he has them in stock when I get there. He hasn't given me a price yet, and surely won't be able to match internet prices, but he said he'd do the best he can for us. I'm supposed to hear from him tomorrow on a price for Pirelli Diablo Stradas (& the "E"), as well as the AVON AV ST's. If Parts Unlimited has it, he can get it. Metzlers, Michelin, whatever.
If you are interested, you can call Dave at :

The scoop on the tire prices is that he can knock at least $20 off of retail, maybe a scosh more. That's about it. Since he orders them essentially one tire at a time, he doesn't get the internet prices we are used to, so we can't get them from him. If you can't swallow that, well, have your tires delivered to the hotel.
