For those of you looking to buy a new bike,FJR or other, a good investment is the tire insurance offered at the time of putchase. I've had my bike two months, 4,000 miles, and have already had to replace two rear tires due to punctures. The first at 300 miles and the second today at 4,000 miles. The plan I bought from my local dealer has already paid for itself. For both tires I just had to bring the bike in, nothing out of pocket. Had the same plan for my last bike and it paid for itself several times over. GREAT INVETSMENT!!

Never even knew that option existed. How much was it?

That's something your local dealer is providing and I don't think that common across dealers.

Funny thing is all my punctures have always been many, many miles from the dealer and I don't mind running a patched tire and the manufacturers warranty...it wouldn't be remotely worth it to me.

I bought my front BT021 from Cycle Gear and had them mount it. With the mount and an extra $15 they sell a tire insurance. They have about 70 stores around the US but even if you have to buy the tire from another dealer when you cannot find or are too far from their store you bring in the receipt or ship the tire carcass home, bring it in and you get a new one. Or if you have a number of miles on the tire a discount on a new one based on the remaining tread. Hopefully I won't find out if it works.

It was $350.00 for three years of coverage. Dealer charges $280.00 for rear tire/labor. I'm up $210.00 so far. Most dealers will offer this when you go into the finance department. They hit you with this along with all the other stuff (YES, LoJack, etc...). If they don't offer it ask about it, that's what I did with my HD, and they had it. I had four tires replaced on the HD.

The motoguard that Cyclegear offers has replaced one PR and one Storm for me so far. The P-Road only had about 200 miles on it when I picked up a nail. The Storm had about 2500 on it. Both times, the new tire only cost me the time of taking the wheel off and taking it in.
