Who do you all recommend to mount a set of tires? I've pretty much worn through the Angels that came with my bike, so I'll be springing for rubber shortly.

It's not the end of the world for me to take either wheel off and transport it somewhere, should I just use Cycle Gear?

Just ordered a set of T-30's. Should have them next week

Does anybody know what Fontana's favorite beer is?

Any IPA will do. We will do the IPA after the tire mount session. I have a set of T-30's at home ready to mount up as well. I hear the T-30 have a real stiff sidewall and are a challenge to mount. I have a few tips from a buddy how to make the job go easier so I am looking forward to mounting the T-30's.

I had a set of T-30's mounted last year at Ducati in Bellevue and no mention was made of stiff sidewalls. That doesn't mean they aren't stiff though and it was the middle of the summer.. Don't recall seeing any other comments about stiff sidewalls.

Some self mounters have commented on forums the T-30 are more of a challenge to moont than other tires such as the PR2 or Bridgestone BT 023 GTs. I have been mounting and using BT 023 GT's for a couple of years now and this will be my first set of T-30s.

Put your tires in a very warm room like a utility room overnight before mounting.

I use an old HF changer and Mojolever, and the T30s weren't that bad at all. PR4s are a lot easier, but the BT023s and T30s haven't been that bad. I'm a weak, old guy and do them by myself. I do use NoMar's lube for mounting; I think that helps.

But we also do GL1800 Goldwing tires here, and compared to those rears, just about anything's "not bad."

Many of us in the area have tire mounting and balancing equipment. Just depends on who you're closer to and timing! Tire changing is all about technique...023GTs aren't that much more difficult than others. I have a T30GT waiting in the wings and ready to go on the bike, just need to kill the 023GT on it now.

If you're interested in putting a car tire on, then George, escapefjrtist is your guy.

Ouch, that hurts...just because it fits, don't make it right!!

audiowize. Why are you not getting the Angel's this time ?
That's a good question, I guess there are a lot of recommendations for the T-30 and the PR-4, I'll probably do PR-4's next, then try to figure out which one I like the best.

I've mounted several 023's and 1 set of T30's using my primitive tire irons. I didn't notice the T30 being any tougher to mount than the 023.
