Is this normal tire wear?

I have about 3K miles on these tires and I often notice that the rubber is peeling away.

I got 7K miles out of my previous B020's but I doubt I will get anywhere near that out of the B021's.

I like the way they handle. They are much stickier than the B020's, and I realize that there is a compromise between mileage and handling, but I have never seen a tire peel like this.

It is my understanding this is normal. I had this "flash" on a Metzler Z4 tire. Didn't seem to be a concern to the tire shop when I went to the new Z6 a few months back.

Make sure you run the correct pressure and all should be OK.

I kinda like the "curling" and mine was a bit more severe. It has sure made the sportbikers take note of this old man and his "bagger". They notice things like that.

But the mileage SUCKS! Saturday I mounted a set of PRs I had in the garage...3500 miles on the 021s. Never again! My next "adventure in tires" will be PR2s, as the reports of good mileage are coming from those who have them mounted.

My Avon Azaro's and the BT-021's do that, And i was told that is caused by too much engine braking in the corners, But the fun factor was intense!

I usually keep the RPM's between 5-8k when riding hard. I know people will dogpile that statement, But it's fun!

This just shows me that we have a similar riding style... :yahoo:

Nice chicken stripes too! :D

Oh, And i still love my BT-021's! Thought i would slap you back mikey!

yep, mine do that, both front and rear

ME TOO! Not sure what that means but their the best I've used on the bike. Sure, i'd like more mileage but they last as long as anything else I've tried and perform much better. Gosh I think I'm on set 6? now ...at least 5
HOWEVER, like many, the fronts have been wearing very fast, looking for a good mate to match the 021 rear. Probably will follow Jeff Ashe's suggestion of the Pirelli in front.
