I purchased my bike with Avon Storm 2 on the front and Avon Azaro on the rear. The rear tire is worn the front tire is new. The bike doesn't handle well so I'm planning a tire change. In talking with the service manager at the only dealership I trust, I learned something interesting about FJR tires.

They had an FJR with front end shake at 40-50MPH. After checking everything on the bike they found the tires were not rated for the bike and could not support the weight, thus front end shake. New BT's and the bike ran flawless. They will only install the BT's on an FJR.

I've run BT's on other bikes, very happy with them, Dunlops on the last bike, also very happy with them. Don't know much about the Avon tires. Not sure if I want to buy a Avon Storm for the rear or just go with BT's front and rear.

Anyone running the Avons or like them? I can't evaluate with a flat spot down the middle of a rear mismatched tire so any input is appreciated.

I had Avons on my c-10 and they were ok on dry pavement, not as grippy as I wanted but were really good in the rain. Don't know why but they were?

I ran a set of Avon Storms, I liked them. Grippy and they seemed to wear well.
Ditto - last summer, my son & I did 5000 miles 2-up thru CO, UT, WY, NM and all kinds of weather and they still have lots of tread left.

The Avon rep at the IMS show said wet weather performance is a priority because they are a European tyre designed for riders who do lots of miles regardless of the weather. Apparently, it rains a lot over there.

My mechanic recommended the Avons very highly and they have a good guarantee as well. I'm putting PR3s on the busa soon for another big trip out west in Aug so we'll see how they compare...

Im on my second set of Storms and love them. For me they wear almost as good as the Mich Pilot 2 tires, but still keep handleing well to near end of life. The Mich Pilot 2's did not.
