On our way home from Bend this morning I took out a forest rat with Patti's brand new truck. Less than a thousand miles on it and almost 4k in damage. Glad we weren't on the bike. Deer have to be about the dumbest thing on the planet.

Sorry about the truck, glad you two are okay but...thanks Ray!

Bad news about the truck, Ray. My wife and I were visiting a couple on Lopez Island once a couple of years ago. We left their neighborhood in their car at night to go to another couples' house for dinner. They told us there were always deer all over the road in their neighborhood. You could honk at them all you wanted but they didn't care. You had to drive through the herd at about walking speed and bump into them to get them to move. We hit half a dozen deer before they cleared out of the road. I think if we were careful enough we could have walked up to them, put some A1 sauce on them, and half eaten them before they knew what was happening. They're smart like rocks.

4k? **** anymore that's a bumper and one chrome strip but still way better than on the White Whale. Deer make being dumb look smart compared to them.

I spent thirty years in the San Juan's. Those little black tails are the best venison I've had but they are just as dumb as the full size mule deer around here.

Ray, sorry to hear this, but glad you and Patty are ok. We got a bambi stopper from Buckstop bumper just up the road from you in Prineville. Luckily we haven't used it (yet), but have come close more times than I care to. Really glad you weren't on two wheels then!

Is it driveable? If so, before you get the bodywork done, drive on over here to Minnesota and Wisconsin. I have several dozen roads that I'd like to have you drive down starting at about dusk. Do it for a couple weeks, every night. May help me feel safer riding those roads during the day.

Rotten f*ckers.

That sucks about the truck! Glad to see you're okay and able to post about it though.

My wife took out 2 with her Saturn when she had it and I got one with my Buell.

Glad you two are OK! Damn forest rats! Thanks for taking one for the team. Sucks about the truck

Glad you guys are ok -

I have a herd of about 22 or so now living in our subdivision. ridiculously stupid creatures. Not even cute anymore.

I did hit one with the wife's car a couple of months ago, I had slowed to nearly zero at the moment of impact, broke one foot at the bottom joint but he still hobbled off. Now he hobbles through my yard every night with his friends. I could tackle him, and kill him with a bic pen... one of these nights.. lol.

Undoubtedly - he will be the one that takes me out.
