top box "rack" for 2005 FJR (urgent)

The plastic "connector" to which one attaches the standard yamaha trunk on my 2005 FJR is cracked. I bought the bike used, so I don't know if it was due to over-tightening or just use.

Does ANYONE know where I might find one? I'm concerned that it might give, and there goes my trunk!

I'm about to leave on a trip from NY - Minnesota - Jackson MS, then home, and I'm nervous about leaving with the connection rack in this condition.

This is a real problem with the trunk and mount that was addressed by Yamaha with a fixit kit, call and talk with a Yamaha dealer and see what they have to say.

Then post a picture of the underside rubber bumpers to keep Michalis happy.

I see the bracket is pricey$$$. Look on the underside and see if there's a note specifying the plastic type. A lot of plastics can be welded - I've fixed some body panels that way.

I want to understand what is going with these mounting plates..The first plates had the 5JW-W0720-00 part number,after many years they offered the reinforcement plate 5JW-W0720-20..Last i saw that the rear rubbers are glued in a vertical position.The last weeks i saw that the 5JW-W0720-20 superceded from the 5JW-W0720-21..!From what i can see in their plates for the 50L top cases for the 2013 model they have install metal pipes in the three holes for the bolts..Perhaps the new plate 5JW-W0720-21 has this improvement..

I think that they have some stock and make a discount perhaps to sell the 5JW-W0720-20 part number,because superceded from the 5JW-W0720-21 part number..

It would be better to buy the new improved mounting plate 5JW-W0720-21..

If you buy it please let us know about the differences..some pictures...
