Just got back from a great trip up to Eureka Springs, Arkansas that averaged about 300+ miles per day. Had a good mix of bikes (11 total) from an '06 CBR 1000 to an '83 V45 Magna. FYI...DO NOT try to make 100 miles on 1 tank of fuel if your riding a good ole' V45 through the Ozarks. Half way up to Queen Wilhemina he ran out. Not a good place to run out of fuel...lol...anyway back on topic.

I was just curious what a fully loaded, (both hard bags and soft bag on rear seat) '06 FJR would run top end with plenty of room, 4 lanes of zero traffic, rider tucked in nice and tight and a full tank of fuel...? I do have a Power Commander w/ custom tune. Everything else is bone stock...I'm thinkin' around 165ish by the "factory" speedo...?? That about right?? :coolsmiley:

Nope. I think the fastest actual from this forum is 156 per a GPS. Not sure what his factory speedo said at that time.

My factory speedo, fully loaded, +4+1 windscreen, topcase and passenger showed 143 at the seemingly top end of the line. (more load than you asked about)

The "faster silver 03" was clocked at 155.9 at the speed trials at Bonneville in 05. Stock tune without bags and the mirrors and shield were on it and corrected altitude was close to 6000' :clapping:

Well, 165-ish mph minus the 10% speedo error typical of Jap bikes and you wind up with 150-ish. So while 155-156 mph mentioned above is at the upper limit of the "ish" factor when figuring 10% error, I'd buy 155. But 165? Maybe at the bottom of a very deep canyon...if you tuck in REAL good before you hit bottom. :)

LOL TWN...I was curious to see how far off our factory speedos are at top speed compared to GPS...I'm sure its been discussed more than once here. I was thinkin' 155 at the most...

One of my 2 brothers, on his '06 FZ1, couldn't read his GPS as he was "trying" to stay ahead of me and the "loaded" FJR...had to be funny seeing a loaded bike with bags keep up with a couple of "tweeked" FZ1's... The looks on their faces in the twisties was even better...damn I love this bike!!

Fastest I had mine was 147 (indicated) and it was still climbing (albeit slowly) I think 4th may have been better than 5th for the climb but I was not paying attention to much other than the road ahead so I did not glance at the tach to see if I could drop a gear.....

Now now boys, we've already been through this. It was decided that if you crash at that speed your likely to be scraped up with a spatula so it's not a good idea for any of us to try and figure this out.

Keep it at or near the posted limits damnit.

145 indicated with both bags attached, my puckered butt tucked closely to the seat. She was still climbing, rode steady as a rock, but I ran out of nerve. My guess is in line with others here. Probably 160 indicated but you need a good flat, no car (or deer) infested stretch to properly risk your life to do it.

I heard that the FJR will show 160mph indicated via GPS.
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding!!!!

Give that ****** a Bozo button!

Once, with the FJR looking like this:

I hit a GPS top speed of 160mph when my FJR ONLY had about 78,000 miles on the clock. Don't know what it was indicating, but it was around 170+. Now that was a single event. Most other time I top out at 153-157 range, including a few times before that 160 reading. These are all GPS speeds, the speedometer reading higher. Tach is showing 9500+ rpm.

Not quite fully loaded, but

HERE is a more typical top speed.

I hit 143 mph on the speedo on the Loneliest Road in American in Nevada, fully loaded with tail bag, 4x1 windshield fully down and crouched under it. I suspect it would have gone higher sans bag and load and if I followed doctor's orders to lose 20 lbs. lo these many years ago.
