I purchased my '04 from Woody's new (received it late in '03 - remember the pre-order days?). These guys have been stellar on everything I have asked of them. They claim to be the largest Yamaha dealer in Maine, and if they treat their other customers the way I have been treated, they deserve the business.
Case in point - I brought my ride in for it's scheduled valve check (a few thousand miles beyond the manual's recommendations - my fault). I confirmed with the service manager that it was supposed to be about a 4 hr. job. I messed things up in the beginning by leaving the shop with my keys still in my pocket - had to send my wife back to drop them off. That means that I delayed whatever other work they had in the queue. Did they bump me out of the line? Nope. Did they give me a hard time for causing them grief? Nope. They passed it off like no big deal and went about their work.
I returned this afternoon to pick up the bike. I saw the service ticket with the notations made by the mechanic, complete with a diagram of each valve position and the measurements made. The best note of all - valves were all in perfect shape. :yahoo: Second best note of all - the job came to about 1/2 the cost I had estimated in my head, even including the required coolant flush and the annual state inspection that it was due for. :clapping:
Bottom line - while I try to do the bulk of the general maintenance on my bike, there are times that I rely on "professional" experience. In every instance so far, they have met or exceeded my expectations. The owner of the shop is a great guy, easy to talk to, and seems genuinely interested in the satisfaction of his customers. I started doing business with them back when their shop was about 1/2 the size that it is today, but their level of service hasn't changed. If you are in Southern Maine, either living here or visiting, you can't go wrong at Woody's Performance.
