 Thanks to you guys that are on the stick, had my new FJR 06 delivered early this month and then Yama Mama finally put part numbers on their web site for the trunk, back rest, etc. Ordered the trunk, etc. and came in with no lock! Dealer sez need to order, cost $40!! OK, I'll bite, get me one.... came in today...another set of keys, not the same as my key, sez me, not acceptable!! OH, by the way, read on FJR forum that extra lock seems to have been delivered with the bike from what I saw on the net. Dealer parts Mgr runs into Svc Dept and returns with trunk lock cylinder for my bike that Service person had no idea what to do with so put it in his tool box!! Again super thanks to you dudes that let ther be more light on this subject!!

Redhawk going on Blue

It amazes me how many dealers FAIL TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS.
FJRs come with instructions?!?! <_<
Woodstock....that was the manila envelope they gave you with the extra keys when you took delivery of your bike (how soon they forget)...
Hmm... The only manilla envelope was the one with the cash in it that I gave to the nice person in sunglasses who gave me the key. He said they were a special kind of dealer that just did business on side-streets.

Well given their performance with the trunk lockset I would check to make sure that the locks on the panniers have been loctited.

clicky

Many incidents on this board with bags coming open on the road because these bolts backed out. Good bet that your dealer didn't do that either, mine didn't.

:) Good point, just found out while trying to install the lock that it needs a special hollow nose hex or torx wrench to remove those screws. Of course, the Dealer Service guys have no such wrench....so obviously they could not have loctited them!!

& their a dealer....don't have the proper tools for the products they sell & supposedly service  ....run away....run away now as fast as you can....don't let them put air in your tires...let alone work on your bike....

You will need a "security torx" bit for your driver. Sears has a whole kit of security bits(torx, hex, and other types) and a driver handle for about $20, IIRC.

:yahoo: Thanks for the info, I was able to find a four piece set at Autozone for 9 bucks. P/N 25222..the one that fits the lock screws is T6H. Went the cheap route since I'll probably never use them again.

As mention earlier, be sure to use locktite on all the screws.

Given your dealer's performance, I'd pull the saddlebag locks and locktite them, just in case the dealer didn't. If they did not, and you don't take action, your saddle bag may come open, or even detach from the bike at speed.

Don't forget to write up a dealer review in the dealer feedback forum, sounds like they deserve it.
