Maybe this has been covered, but I thought I'd share this.

The zipper pull broke off of the SECOND Tourmaster jacket I own. I contacted Tourmaster after reading where they were replacing jackets for this problem. All they offered me was a new zipper with the suggestion that I might want to find a tailor to sew the new one in. This seemed like a huge pain in a$$, so I found these zipper pulls at Sport Chalet. $10 for a few cents of material but I think they might do the trick.

I have "repaired" a zipper with a broken pull using a loop of thin (1mm?) stainless welding wire. Bent it into the appropriate shape and stuck the ends together with a gob of epoxy. As a temporary fix, I had used a large heavy-duty paperclip but the metal is too soft to last very long.

Zipper pulls are a good idea. i have had several zippers break, but always the entire pull came off. For those times a small paperclip wrapped with a rubber or electrical tape works.

The repair above I have done on other than Tourmaster. I have worn out a couple of Tourmaster jackets, have two I wear regularly, and have not had a pull break.

No zipper pull break, but I just took my Tourmaster jacket (Transition 3) back to the dealer, have two seams that the stitching is coming un-done, it is still well inside the 1 year warranty, and Tourmaster said to take it back to the point of purchase and they will work with them for replacement/repair. Too bad, because I hate this dealer, their customer service has dropped off the map, and I no longer wish to do business with them- other long story involving my four wheeler- its been over a week, with two follow up phone calls and still no word on what the fix will be. I get the "let me get your number and I will call the rep right now" run around, tomorrow will be a person to person followup visit. I figure a week with no word is long enough.

As for replacement zipper pulls, I am cheap and just cut a 5-6" length of 550 cord and loop it through.

Key rings work well too. As do the pull rings from flashbangs. Hahaha...
Yeah, used a keyring on mine too. Thing is, the oem puller is designed to lock the zipper in place on the zip teeth so it doesn't slide under pressure.....oh well.

I had a similar problem, thought I posted it here, but apparently not. I had a broken pull on my Dainese leather suit, as well as my Olympia jacket. These guys got me all fixed up and I am very happy with the product. Inexpensive and looks like it belonged there all the time.

Excellent customer service too!

I fixed mine by getting the slider off of the pants zipper that came with the jacket. It's the same size. I had to remove the bead at the top of the zipper, slide the old slider all the way off, slide the new slider in place, have my sister sew a new bead onto the top, good as new!

The Aerostich repair kit is pretty useful for things like this...it has a little of everything (various sizes of zippers, snaps, rivets, zipper keepers, etc). When the main zipper pull went on my suit, it took the loop of metal that was part of the pull itself, the kit saved my bacon...and the ride.

^ is a good find.

Just contact this shop: https://www.seattlefabrics.com/zippers.html and order a #8 Two Way Separating Zipper plus the end stops and have the new zipper installed by any seamstress in your area. A lot of Dry Cleaning shops have someone in the store who can do this for a reasonable charge. I had the zipper in my Transition II replaced for the cost of the zipper and end stops plus the cost of having it sewn in. Total was less than $30.00. The zipper on the Transistion is not of very good quality. Also check out Rainy Pass for a price https://rainypass.com/ Sound Rider has the zipper pulls also: https://store.mm411.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&product_ID=1458

I have had bad experiences with Tourmaster/Cortech zipper pulls. Sometimes the pull itself breaks, but sometimes the metal loop on the zipper block breaks off, leaving nothing to work with. I just spent $70 replacing two zippers on an old Cortech tank bag (lid and side pocket) and two zippers on a set of soft saddle bags. Not cheap but I now have about $300 worth of functional gear that would otherwise have become landfill - good backups or loaners, or I could probably sell them. Probably give them away to someone starting out on a budget. I went to a local dry cleaner and got the name of their seamstress who, it turns out, teaches sewing at the local junior high.

hmmm... while we're talking about replacing zippers ...

When replacing an entire zipper, would it make sense (or even possible) to install a waterproof zipper of a different design?
