Has anyone had any experience with biffing their bike at a track/class/school day? Not actually racing.

I was wondering if a wreck at "school" would be covered since you are not racing. I've never been and am looking forward to going soon. Are there companies that show up and offer a 1 day deal?

Yes, this should prob go to another sec on the forum, but why be diff from everyone else and post in the right place

I don't know about all policies -- but from my experience:

If you're at a Track Day, or Racing -- your policy won't cover accidents.

If you're at an advanced rider training, or MSF, or defensive rider course -- your policy should cover accidents.

You gotta check your policy carefully.

If You bin your bike at a track day, just tell your insurance co. that it happened on one of your local curvy roads. Just hope your tires aren't

worn to the edges with tell-tale signs of roadracing.

The trackdays around here try to promote the events as some sort of self paced closed circuit rider training course. I know they point out there is no racing involved and instructors will be out to assist people if they need it. Even then, I think it would be a hard sell.

Here's another one to think about . . . your medical insurance. I checked my policy. I'm not covered if I'm racing or doing something "illegal," but am covered if I'm on a track taking a course.

I'm a few months late gettin' to the party, huh?

FWIW now, I would think without a police report, it'd be pretty tough to claim your motorcycle damages, OTOH, your medical will pick you up unless there is a specific exclusion for "rider training".

March of last year, I went down at Barber Motorsports Park in T5 and broke all the ribs on the left side of my body and I never had a bit of problems with my healthcare provider. When I had to fill out the forms as to "what happened", I simply wrote that I was attending a motorcycle rider improvement program. Needless to say, I don't reckon I improved very much that day! LOLOLOL

I didn't even submit a claim for my bike. I figured it was pointless but maybe I should have tried. YMMV
