Hi. My new-to-me '06 came with a Throttlemeister throttle lock system already installed by the PO. My old ST1100 had a Vista-cruise throttle lock and I'm completely conditioned to its use and can't get comfortable with the TM.

Unfortunately, I don't have the stock bar end weights. So, ideally, I'd trade my new condition Throttlemeister bar ends (black) for your stock bar ends and an equally good condition Vista-cruise.

If you're in CO, that's a bonus since we might be able to meet and switch bar ends so that one or both of us aren't doing without for a long period of time.

If you are interested, please let me know via a post here or [email protected].

Thanks,

Chris

[i was initially incorrect about these being the "heavy" throttlemeister bar ends. They are the standard ends. Sorry for any confusion]

Can anyone tell me how to avoid having the Throttlemeister slowly creep on.

I looked at the makers websight and can't even find a breakdown of parts to see if I'm missing something.

At one time I removed it to check and there was a loose rubber o ring in there, is that supposed to provide some friction inside the mechanism to avoid the creeping?

Help!

I can send my set to you first as I have Salamander bar ends on the bike.

PM sent...I'll do it. I'll need to buy the vista cruise but have the stock ends.

I don't know, it sounds crazy 'unbalanced weight causes it to move', but I'll try it now.

I think I'm putting it on by having my glove contact it.

I wasn't able to notice much difference in the weight of the outer ring (the heavy piece you turn to activite the throttlemeister) so I couldn't find a heavy side or a light side. Besides I'm pretty sure I'm turning the throttlemeister on while using the throttle. So, I replaced the outer o-ring that acts like a seal between the inner brass ring and the outer ring with a slightly thicker one, that increases the friction and makes it hard enough to turn the outer ring, that I shouldn't be activating it unintentionally. Since I have a wide assortment of o-rings (harbor freight stikes again) this was an easy fix. If you want to try this approach, if your careful to thread the brass ring to the same position you started from you don't have to worry about taking the whole damn thing apart and finding the correct spots for the rotation limiting stops. I think it will work?

The TM isn't perfectly balanced because the internals aren't symetrical. You have to partially disassemble it & put a mark on the outside to identify the heavy side, the reassemble/reinstall.

I followed this when I did my initial installation, so I can't really verify whether or not it makes a difference, but a few weeks ago mine loosened up enough to start twisting, and the mark had worn off. After tightening without re-indexing the heavy side and now mine is engaging (slightly, not full-on) by itself.

The upsized o ring approach works a little too well, I'm going to have to find a thinner one, but the increased friction does keep the meister off.
