As some of you know, I've been drooling over the K1200S for a while now. Yesterday, my local beemer dealer offered me a sweet deal on this '05 they've had sitting on the floor for a while.

Purdy ain't it? To sweeten the deal, they tossed in a couple saddlebags for the price.

I can't afford to keep this one and the feej, so I opted to trade mine in. They said since it was an AE, nobody would really want it, so they gave me $7K for it. That sounded about right to me.

Sooo, I"m the proud new-to-me owner of a beemer. And this means I'm outta here since I'm not really "one of you" anymore now that I've jumped ship.

Scab isn't one of us and he is still here. You don't have to go, really. :bye2:

Nice bike, enjoy your new ride!

While this may (or may not) be an A1 joke, that is eggs-ackly what the original owner of my '05 did. He told me that he was too small for the bike. Well, actually he said the bike was too big for him  and he traded it in at a BMW store in CT for that same model (K1200S). He obviously took a pretty bad beating as the BMW shop promptly wholesaled it off to a used bike sales guy here in NH (National Powersports), and I bought it from them via eBay for less than wholesale in the fall of 2006.

Hope you didn't make the same mistake for real...

Okay, that was my lame attempt at a A1 joke. I could never leave this pack of weirdos, cretins, oldsters, misfits and admins voluntarily. :)

Wish I did have that bike, but it's got a huge potential problem. The 05 K1200S and Z4 both got a bad batch of connector rods from the same vendor, so they're liable to go thunk at any moment. Yeah, sure, BMW put a "lifetime" warranty on the rods, but who wants to be miles from home with a busted motor?

But if I ever hit the lottery...

(To the tune of "The Wheels on the Bus") "The final drive on the Beemer goes clunk, clunk, clunk... clunk, clunk, clunk... clunk, clunk, clunk, the final drive on the Beemer goes clunk, clunk, clunk, as your driving down the road" :D (I can't sing for ****...!)

I still like the K12RS or 1st gen K12GT better, purely on ergos.

But yeah, It'd be taking a chance on a broken rod, or a flaming final drive.

I'm OK wid dat.

Still, no way I'd get rid of the Feejer for either one!! :yahoo:

Did a search, did not find anything, so here goes ::Anyone have both the k1200s and FJR ?

My arse is itching for a stable mate

Would like some feedback

I don't, but my spin is that they are not different enough to make it worthwhile unless you have two riders in the house and intend them to be run simultaneously. As an example, you can see in my sig that I have 3 bikes. The FJR and VFR overlap in function significantly. While the VFR is , lighter, smaller, sportier, I tend to ride the FJR when I'm in the mood to sport tour, even one up. If my 21 y/o son was not a rider I would probably sell the VFR, though I sure like the bike a lot. Funny thing is, if I'm not in the mood for sport touring, I tend to jump on the little thumper and blast around. That's a whole lot different experience than either of the other two.

Have you have ever considered a dual sport?

My buddy Rick has the K1200 and we swap sometimes. (bikes) and he likes his better and I like mine better. My buddy Doug's dad has the gt and an rs. He seems to like his rs a lot more. The gt is really just for going two up for him.

Put some brandy new PR2's on that and gas it hard outta your driveway. Post some pictures later, k?
:D :D I see what you did there.

I've always liked the K12S, but the price with ESA (which I would want) has always scared me off with my tail between my legs.
