I know that the idea of a trailer and an FJR is blasphemous, but hear me out first. I'm doing my first track day this coming Monday and decided to pick up a trailer to take my yzf600r out there and back in case something happens to the bike. Since I'm going to spring for the trailer, I thought I should go ahead and get one that would fit the FJR and the 600r. Would a 5'x8' trailer accommodate both or do I need something bigger?

I think that a 5x8 should work but I would go ahead and get a 5x10. You could put a job box up front to carry your gear safe and locked up and the bikes behind that. The cost differential is minimal and I think that you would find it more useful for other things. I have a 4x8, a 5x10, and a 83"x12 tandem axle for carrying my small farm tractor. The 4x8 comes in handy around my farm for my ATV to pull out in the fields and can carry the ATV also.

On the 5x8 I attached the job box up front and can carry lots of gear more securely than in my Bronco and still have room for my ATV or bike if I were to take it somewhere.

I have a 6x12 enclosed. Would barely fit my FJR and VTX 1300 width ways if I staggered them and bags off. My VTX was 9' from front fender to the rear fender. The FJR fits in the bed of my Ford pickup with the tailgate down, so 8' might be real tight. 5' wide ould really make a tight fit, but the 10 long would help with a stagger of the two bikes.

You didn't say if you are going to get an open or an enclosed trailer but if its the latter then you need at least a 6 foot width and I think it would be a good idea to get a 6 foot width even if it is an open trailer to get some better tie down spots -- and a 10 foot length is also a good idea -- so my vote is a 6'x10'. I have a Wells Fargo 5'x10' enclosed trailer (single bike only) and I wish it were bigger.

Also check the GVW of whatever trailer you decide on and the max load capability of the axle and tires. Many of the bike specific trailers can be at or over GVW with two large street bikes on them and I personally do not like running trailers with tires that are at the max load rating. Opt for the heaviest duty axle and tires available.

I bought a 5X10 (6ft. wide O/D), non tilt, with a ramp. Dealer said I'd like it better than a 8', and he was right.

Added box with homemade chock. With ramp raised, I can see the rear for easy backing, and it lays down when not loaded. I can also haul a lot of other things with chock removed. Cost about $650 new-- I got this one for $500 after slight use during deer season. Trailers good with a motorcycle on it.

Thanks for all the feedback. Looks like a 5x10 it is. Now to figure out where to put the thing when not in use.

5x8 works good! I've also got a 7X12 tandem V-nose!
