Do any of you have experience with the Yami TW200? How about the Kawasaki Super Sherpa or the Suzuki DR200SE?

All three are good, serviceable, dual-sport motorcycles. I think the fat tires on the TW200 feel 'funny' when riding/cornering (especially on pavement/hard surface). The Super Sherpa is, to me, an almost 'jewel-like' little motorcycle -- and, is probably the best street-bike of the three. The DR is a good 'all-rounder' -- like the other DRs only with a smaller, less powerful, engine.

I guess, if you lived where a really good trail bike was important, the Suzuki might get the nod? I think the Kawi probably has the most modern engine and other stuff? Still, there's nothing wrong with the Yamaha -- altho, it's been around for a while.

All three are on the right track for a beginner, and I don't think you can go wrong with whichever you choose. Let us know how it works out, as I am also looking into a beginner bike for a kid.

The TW200 is the best dual sport for the money :yahoo: iffin you a small (young) person. They can be set up like a supermoto with some Bridgestone skins and a smaller (two teeth) real sprocket. I sold mine last year and kick myself everytime I think about it! I'm trying to fine another used one now, and thet are non-existent. Do it, Do it now! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

I learned how to ride on a TW200. Great bike for the money. However the bike I bought next was a Hyosung GT250, it had a very nice ride and was placid enough that whether you are an experienced rider or a noob it has exactly what you are looking for. I still have mine, I use it every day in fact. I ride to and from work on mine and avg about 78 mpg with it.
