Question.....I was told the fjr shif pattern can be changed from one down and four up....to one up and four down.....the guy i bought my fjr from said it could be changed .....cause the dude he bought it from had it one up and four down....

i have heard a noise twice now 2 and 3 gear, once shifted and get on it a bit sounds to me its coming out of the clutch box??? kind of sounds like somthing is turning and then grabs...

if you just go thru the gears with out getting on the throttle wont do it.....

and iam not certain the guy put everything back together when he changed it back to one down four up.....gear pattern...

Got a trip coming up and dont need any problems....

if any have heard of this let me know....

thanks

It's doable on sportbikes...GP Shifting, but I have know clue if it applies to an FJR.

Let the trolling begin...

Yes, what you ask can be done. It would require a bell-crank setup to reverse the shift direction. Here's how you would accomplish it, but what you're describing points to a different problem.....

Gear dogs slipping out of connection in 2nd and 3rd. Something that could definitely be the result of an earlier, abortive attempt to install a GP Shift Pattern. While all the necessary work to accomplish the change can be done outside the transmission, if done poorly it could have caused missed shifts under heavy acceleration from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, damaging the gear dogs inside the tranny. Pray to the motorcycle gods that is NOT what's wrong with your bike. Motor would need to come out, cases split and transmission overhauled.

NOT a pretty thing to consider.

How about turning the conection arm for the bal-joint on the transmission selectorshaft 180 degrees.

Pic. is from a Ducati rear peg set but princip should be the same.

Do the FJRs use a cassette type transmission??
Cassettes are so....old school.

Feejers are either Sat Rad or MP3 ( iPod ) via B-T.

  mp3? MP3? That's so 1995!

If you're not saving your music in AAC, you're trading quality for space savings. AAC = MP4 which, I believe, is the iPod's native format.

MP3 is SO stone-axe in a lazer-scalpel world. :p

No as in trans is loaded in from the side negating the need to split the cases. They have been installed more and more on japanese bikes. Not sure if the fjr had one or not

No room on the Feej, frame and shift rod then have to occupy the same space. Not allowed with only three dimensions.

This is the only way you could do this on an FJR. It worked on the TD and TZ roadracers back in the day (how I miss those days) because the shift lever was flipped over 180 degrees and had rearset footpegs. My question to you on the FJR is WHY?

I have to admit that I've responded to a few of your questions, but I am beginning to wonder. Most of your questions have been the most bizarre I have seen in 2+ years on the forum. I think I am with Iggy on this one.
