Can anyone recommend a good transport company to transport a car from Wisconsin to Alberta Canada?

There are many car-haulers out there -- I think a little searching (an ebay car seller -- company/s) could fetch you a few? I think they need to be insured/bonded, etc.?

There are some questions:

  • Can it be driven (good working order)?
  • Can it be towed with a tow-bar (or, must it be hauled)?
  • What time frame?
  • Any other (extenuating?) issues?
I've delivered vehicles for people (references available) for compensation; and would consider discussing same.

My experience with trying to ship a Honda CBR1000 Blackbird to Alberta is that I couldn't. The buyer of the bike lived there but all attempts to find a shipping company that would take it across the US/Canada border failed. In the end, we agreed to ship the bike to bellingham WA, near the border and keep it at the transport company's warehouse (free for 30 days), then the new owner came down and got the bike from there and rode it into Canada, doing the required paperwork. YMMV. I shipped it through PMI Transportation Group, 866-985-8700, talk to Sophie. The actual carrier was Allied Van Lines. You could also try them directly.

First check this site out. There are hundreds out companies out there. And a bunch are really sleazy. I found our company via this site.

We used Specialty Mobile Systems to ship a Jeep from Atlanta, GA to Seattle, WA. It was no problem at all. Jeep was here in about a week. No fuss, no muss.

Good Luck.

Shipping vehicles to Canada requires patience and paperwork, lots and lots of paperwork. Having sold to several Canadian buyers, I am amazed what people will put up with just to be close to decent beer.

Thanks for the information people!

Looks like we will be using DAS, a transporter that we found on the eBay site. Didn't see them listed on the transporter review site :(

I agree with Radman that there seems to be a lot of paperwork to be done to export a vehicle into Canada.

Don't make me break out into the beer song, boy....you'll be drunk before noon.
