I use my Zumo for music on the bike but loading a SD card for me is a total pain. Can preloaded cards be purchased based on what music you want???

I've never seen that. Besides, how much would a card like that cost with potentially hundreds or thousands of songs on it?

I thonk you're gonna be SOL on this, but why is loading an SD card a PITA? Unless you have issues or are doing something wrong, it should be super easy. Maybe you just need some help with that.

There are lots of things I need help with AJ. The problem is that I don't have a music library to load from and getting it off the internet costs money I think. It's time consuming and I have better things to do with my time like spending Carver's money fixing his bikes.

Oh, yeah. My library started with moving CDs to digital and adding MP3 purchases as they come along. IF I had bought all my music from the internet, it would be thousands of dollars. Either source is going to cost you time.

Well, there's your problem!

My first foray was to convert all my CDs including that Miami Vice soundtrack I got as a Christmas Present using the free Audio Grabber software to START building a library to then copy to SD cards.

While that could be a possible business opportunity I think the potential market isn't going to be very big...given the potential customers that probably don't want to pay for the music license to begin with.

...that said....if you're totally into just Pearl Jam and want 14 Gigabytes of concerts since 2000 on a single SD card...I happen to know one that just was assembled. ;)

I too have built my library from CDs. To this day I still buy them at flea markets and yard sales and continue to build it up. I've also found used record stores in my area will trade usually on about a 2 for 1 scale which has enabled me to greatly enlarge my collection.

Some services like Amazon Prime allows you access to thier library with membership, I don't know if they let you download to a second source like an SD card. I can try later tonight.

I started my digital music collection by ripping CD's as well.

Then a couple of years ago I got a turntable that allowed me to rip vinyl straight to a thumb drive. I hadn't played most of my LP's in several years so it provided a wealth of "new" music I could easily access.

Run in-ear headphones to my iphone with 16gb of music there. Can pause, skip tracks and do volume from an in-line controller built into the headphones. I can't imagine doing anything else it's just so seamless.

Good plan but it doesn't address my question. Thanks.

Ray, join Amazon Prime, Spotify, Milk, Pandora One, or whatever Google us running. You can get a lot of free downloads for not much money. I figure your music likings are pretty old anyway, so should be cheap. Lol...

Not sure about the legality of this, but those of you with big MP3 library's on your PC could just load up some SD cards for those that are without (for a small nominal fee...SD card and postage)

Perhaps you can post info on what type of music you listen to and then someone with a collection that suits your fancy can send you a copy of what they have.

I have a lot of techno/electronica on my laptop and could load a card for someone....(once I get my laptop back from my son)

I know there's tools, seats, and windscreens I've seen here being passed around, why can't we do the same to music?

Make no mistake, it is illegal. No judgement, but we're simply not going to do that here...plenty of other places if somebody feels inclined. Thx.

That's a shame.

Don't know how many CD's I borrowed from friends and made (illegal) copies of...which I converted to MP3's.

There is still software to convert CD's into MP3's right?

Hope the police don't bust me.... ;)

As stated by most above you got to build the library first.

Some inexpensive options include garage sales, flea markets, used record stores - most larger towns are going to have them - especially those with colleges, used book stores, half.com. Not often, but I have even seen CD's for sale at gun shows. CD's can be picked up inexpensively ($1 to $3).

I am not advocating this but the library is an option, but ripping a borrowed CD to MP3 would cross the line. Family and Friends are also options, but the library situation would also apply.

They damn near give CD's and DVD's away at our local pawn shop.$1-2.

Everybody streams so much now nobody wants to store physical media.
