Took the bike on a spin around the Suches Loop today, taking my usual leisurely pace and losing several gallons of sweat. On the way back on 11, south of 52, I'd been stuck behind someone doing 40 in a 55. When a passing lane opened up, I went around- not a noisy fly-by, but an easy pass and back into the right hand lane. About a mile later, there's a red light and just past the light the left lane ends. As I'm sitting at the light, I see the car I passed approaching and see them quickly change to the left lane just before they got to me and right as the light turned green. Oh, no you don't- I've been stuck behind you long enough. I give it some throttle and dump the clutch and shoot away from the light-

On one wheel. HOLY CRAP! Back on two wheels, stop and spit on the "No Squids" sticker on my helmet.

Pulling into my neighborhood, there's a roundabout that means a sharp right, long left hand around the circle, and sharp right again into the subdivision. A nice swoopy loop to end any ride. On my way around the loop I scraped the left peg. Dammit, I'm becoming a hooligan! And right after I made all those smug, holier than thou posts about radar and lidar!

No, she's not a supersport, but she's certainly not the slug my supersport riding friends think it is. Now I must wash the stain clean. :dribble:

Now ain't that fun!

I was pulling into the parking lot at work, a 90 degree right hand turn with good visability but it isn't a sharp turn. Just past mid way through the turn, as I was about half way between the max lean angle and upright again I grabbed a handfull of first gear to find myself lofting the front wheel some while still in the lean. Whoa, that was cool. Not that it's a big deal really, but when it happens unexpectedly it is a pleasant suprise.

This bike never fails to impress. :)

I figure any bike that can wheelie with my lard ass on it is quite the machine and mine has proven it can do it and I was not trying

I have not figured out how to wheelie yet! I guess that I need to dump the clutch (but I have an AE!). How does one do a wheelie with an AE? Am I not heavy enough? Do I need to twist the throttle at just the right time?

On sport bikes, all you have to do is get the RPMs up, let the throttle go and then twist it quickly. That will usually bring the front up. Even though I have tried, with my A, that only seems to be good for about 3 inches of lift. I haven't tried dumping the clutch yet, so no serious wheelies here.

I don't have an AE, but this method should work for you also. Just get the tach up to about 5000 rpm in first gear and then wack the throttle wide open. The front end will come up! Just be prepared to modulate the throttle unless you want to flip over backwards.

Just like Harald said run it up to about 5g then whack it wide open and hang on and it will come right over if you aren't on top of the throttle. I weight 215lbs. and if my tank is down to about 2or 3 bars I can do the same thing in second gear. Another method is coming off a small rise in the road in second or third gear run up the rpms to around 5 when you hit the top of the rise and it will float up in to a really nice power wheelie but you want to be careful doing it that way because dropping off the other side of the rise can sneak up and bite you fast. It is impressive though and it feels so good. :yahoo: :clapping:

You need to sell your '07 and buy an '03!!!!!!!!!!! Mine will wheelie with a full tank of gas!! I certainly don't do it all the time, but every once in a while it's fun.

Leaving my neighborhood if I take a left turn onto a bit larger road there is a nice rise/drop about 100 yds. Not long ago I accelerated pretty briskly towards that hill top and shifted going over the top. That big blue baby pulled a monster power wheelie down the back side of that hill and scared the crap out of me. I've ridden 225 lb dirt bikes for 30 years and holding a power wheelie on a bike this big is a real thrill. I am a bit more cautious topping that hill now.

Run your AE up to 5kRPM in 1st or second.. Drop the throttle then grab it again (pogo the front end) Work your way up to it carefully... it will come up

My AE will come up in three gears at sea level... Power wheelie,, no pogo... But at 4500 ft alt.. not so much

Be careful when doing the pogo..... work up to it...
