I love this line "I used my years of experience and panic'ed." Didn't a famous English race car driver say something to the same effect?

..and yes Jestal, intriguing you posted up.. today I too was in a similar experience.

I'm driving my 1 ton dodge dually w/ 18ft enclosed trailer in tow, came up upon a group of ~30 Harleys. Now mind you, I love my Harley probably more than the FJR, but these guyz were complete asshats. I guess we all have to start somewhere, but my gawd, how many must die before they get the clue? In my aforementioned vehicle, I was running up the *** of the back packers; I swear I could have COASTED my 1 ton Dodge dually with 18 foot enclosed trailer in tow (wouldn't this make a GREAT Arlo Guthrie song??) and gone faster than them.

My story, unlike yours, has a better ending. I followed these asshats all the way to their final destination; a genuine smoke bbq place in Atascadero. I found the rear 5 bikes, and struck up a conversation with the riders. I opened the trailer and showed them my pristine 1991 FLHTCU in the back with 135k miles (phuck you, I don't ride the ultra down my dirt road, thank you very much), and they immediately opened up.. This their 1st, 2nd and 5th ride on a motorcycle EVER, and for them, this was a HUGE trip, all the way from Fresno to Atascadero, ~110 miles.

..Don't laugh guyz..

When I met them, they were/are very fine people. Just very, very new and inexperienced. I immediatley recommended the MSF courses and even learning to ride a dirt bike; that I was so concerned I followed them 10 miles out of my way just to hope to have a chat. ...and yes, it did appear they listened. I told them of my FJR - 24k in 8 months and that seemed to count too.

Somehow, I hope what I did make a difference and these guys get some training. They were really nice folks. Sure would hate to see them dead or worse, injured for life.

The small town I live in is a "destination" for lots of RUBs and there is the obligatory biker bar on the north side of town so we see lots of bike traffic, especially on the weekends and on Thursday "bike nite" at the Red Doggie. I go over some time and watch some of the "riders" paddle their way off the street (that nasty driveway ramp and turn into the strip mall is tough) and across the parking lot.
Yep, me too. Creston, with it's two bar, one with a good steak house, is also becoming a 'destination' village. No, we are not yet a town, we are a village  . ...and some of the biker's just don't know when to say no..

About a year ago, a local, a very nice, kind, gentle ranch owning woman, had a HD rider drift wide and kill himself. Phuck him - she hasn't really recovered, kind of feels guilty, even though she was in her own lane, doing the limit... It's just not the ***** that has life change..

Then again, to point out that it's not just HD folks.. we had a crotch rocket (gsxr) running at over 120mph tag a Suburban that was backing out from the post office (you should see the post office, it's really really tiny).. I actually re-created the scene, and no way could the the cage driver have ever caught site of the gsxr dude prior to impact..

BTW, it's posted at 45.

I suppose natural selection will soon put its hand out and snatch these clowns up. I will not shed a tear.
