Ok, so it's my B-day today...I'm waiting on my son to come up from Lexington from school so I can take him out to lunch for my b-day and of course it is absolutely freaking gorgeous outside today.

I actually cleaned the bike up this morning and all I want to do is go riding....is that so wrong?

Happy Birthday Adrian! :clapping:

I totally understand how you feel. A couple of years ago while riding to Overton, NV for my B-Day, I happened to call home to check in. Found out that my family had throw me a party but didn't know where I was.

:fool: DOH!

Luckily, I have a pretty understanding family. They eventually forgave me (I think).

I don't know what your situation is but perhaps a compromise will work? Maybe meet your son at one of your favorite greasy spoons on a nice, long and twisty road? If not, you can always call tomorrow "your" day and ride then.

Good luck.

First, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

What's wrong? I see two things wrong... (well, assuming your son is at least 16 or older)

1) Your son should be taking YOU out to lunch (for your Birthday), and :glare:

2) Your son should be jumping on HIS bike to go riding with you and your FJR, to lunch!

And if none of that is possible, fear not, there will be other nice riding days ahead! :yahoo:

There's always another day to ride but as they grow older there is less time to spend with your children. I used to labor over this dilemma but found my daughter winning out. Maybe you can do both.

don't mean to hi-jack the post Adrian - it's my birthday today also. - So I'll quaff a Guinness for you later - and maybe you can do something along the same lines for me -

ride safe - david

Ahhh yes. My dad wasn't a rider, but I do have fond memories of meeting him at the Hungry Stick in Clairemont for burgers and billiards. They're even still in business, though I don't live in the area anymore so going there is easier said than done.

P.S. Happy birthday! :yahoo:

Happy Birthday Adrain and Bull !

Adrian, give the kid a call on his cell phone and have him meet you somewhere along your ride route. Also good to verify plans haven't changed with the younger crowd, leaving you hanging on a nice riding day and bitter in your old age.

Just kidding on the old age thing, best wishes !

Hey Adrian,

Happy birthday to you sir!

Heidi
