Ultimate Naked Bike

Greetings all-

I've had an order on a Brutale 1078 for about 6 months and only G_D knows when the pup may arrive. So, I'm rethinking my decision given the passage of time. If I'm looking for the ultimate naked bike where handling, power and good ergos for an inseam challenged rider are paramount, what steed would you choose and why?

Not sure about the inseam, but I love my Speed Triple, it gets more seat time than the FJR these days. Not quite as sexy as a Brutale, but probably much more reliable, cost effective and it sounds frickin' sweet and handles great IMHO. Lot's of aftermarket if you are so inclined. I know it can be lowered as well if it is an issue.

If not that the Aprilla Tuono was on my short list. I liked the Buell 1125 that I rode last year, but I just didn't trust it for some reason, and I am not partial to HD dealerships personally.

I believe that Sport Rider did that and they couldn't believe that MamaYama hasn't done that instead of the FZ1. That's what I'd do if'n I had the $$$$.

If function and performance are paramount, then the KTM Super Duke would be on my short list.

If looks and form are important, then it would be the Moto Guzzi Breva 1200 Sport.

I have a Monster 696 and it has plenty of get up and go for me but compared to the Brutale 1078 you might find it lacking power at 80HP vs the 150 or so of the Brutale. It is fun though. I wouldn't want it as an only ride but it makes a nice compliment to the FJR. And as my sister says, it is good "garage bling".

Geez!No question the Brutale is sexy :man_in_love: but give me a choice and the Duc Hypermotard S with full factory goodies would be my pick.Nothing sounds so sexy as a Duc at redline and hearing those Termis note! :devil: They are more available than the MV.Besides the thought of having an MV being serviced an a Harley dealer is down right scary to me since they now own MV. uke: The second choice would be a Duc s4rs with factory goodies. Just my two cents worth.

Well I personally really Aprilia. A friend of mine had a Tuono Factory and ended up selling it about year late.r Why? Because it scared the shit out of him. The bike was super fast, agile, and ran like a bat out of hell. He was a fairly small guy, and as it was, it was hard for him to flat foot the bike. When it came to slow speed stuff around town he was just never very confident. This caused him to get scared every time he was on the bike that he would drop it and scratch his baby. In the end it was just too much bike for him so he sold it and went back to an R6.

I like the Speed Triple and the Tuono.

I'd look into a Shiver, if size were a problem.

buy a used kaw zrx1200r. add a full muzzy and factory pro 2.5 kit.

this bike, stock, was only a second slower around infineon raceway in a magazine test by moto-journalists that had run a bevy of 1000cc sport bikes the week before.

the pipe and jet kit bring it to life.

only better option would be to take a new 1000cc bike and modify it into a streetfighter. cost you about $14k.

I'm intrigued by the S4RS. Isn't it due for an update given that they just came out with a new 696?

A guy came to the East Coast Timing Association at Maxton in NC this summer with a defrocked Hayabusa, heavily modified.

It was classified as a Nekkid Bike, and set four records.... top speed run was over 246 mph.

There's a piece about it in the current issue of Cycle World.

I just returned from my local Duc dealer and he was trying to talk me into an S2R 1000. He liked it better than the S4R... more reliable, easier to maintain...

I vaguely recall an old thread on this but can't find it. If I go the monster route, what's the best monster?

If you can find a deal on 07 or 08 S4RS, you get all of the good suspension, light weight, etc. 100+ horse out of the box. 20% more horse with pipes, chip, air box and a shit load of fun. Having a lawyer on retainer kind of sucks
