Update on San Diego Road Rage Incident!

Some of you may remember the road rage incident that occured in May on the Coronado Bridge in San Diego where two riders on a K1600 were thrown off their bike and sustained major injuries by a BMW which deliberately swerved into their bike. The BMW driver, who had a history of burglary and theft, was convicted of child endangerment, as his two children were in the car, and was given 4 years probation. He was credited with spending more time in jail before the trial than the one year in prison the judge said he would have imposed. The K1600 riders were left to heal on their own. Sorry world we live in!

Hate to be a bearer of this kind of news, but cage drivers are trying to kill us!

For more, including photos of the vehicles, see https://www.10news.com/news/2-injured-in-apparent-road-rage-crash-on-coronado-bridge-police-say-driver-hit-motorcycle-05192013 this article from KGTV. 10News - 2 injured in apparent road rage crash on Coronado Bridge: Police say driver hit motorcycle - 10News.com - News

Copying something over from BARF.

Lt. Rorrison said an off-duty officer traveling on the bridge at the time of the incident saw the whole thing. The officer first noticed the BMW swerving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed.

“He almost hit our sergeant’s car and he almost hit another vehicle that was right next to our sergeant’s car,” Lt. Rorrison explained.

Police say the off-duty officer saw the motorcycle come up from behind, then maneuver past the BMW.

Then, tempers flared.

“It appeared to our sergeant that there were some words exchanged between the motorcycle rider and his passenger and the driver of the BMW,” said Lt. Rorrison. “Our sergeant saw the driver of the BMW look at the motorcycle, make some sort of gesture and turn directly into it, striking it.”

Police say both occupants of the motorcycle were thrown off it in the crash. The driver then fled the scene, and the sergeant chased him, detaining him once he stopped in Coronado.

OMG! No repercussions for his actions against hitting the rider/passenger & then leaving the scene? Wow! I just don't know what to say. This is abso-*******-lutely horrible.

Child endangerment? That's it? Seriously? THAT'S IT? What about Assault with a deadly weapon? Felony hit and run? Heck, this was a deliberate assault with a 3000 lb projectile. I say this was attempted murder!!

Time to throw the red flag and review the play. The ruling on the field is in serious doubt.

Sometimes, for a fleeting microsecond or two I wonder if Sahara law isn't so bad... then I come back to reality.

Still waiting to see how the east coast deals with their road rage case in NYC.

I have found it best to keep my mouth shut and refrain from the ADV salutes. This line of thinking came into play about the time I got my CCW permit.

I'm thinking that guy should have got 5 years in the can and 10 probation. What would he have got if he had hit the cops car?

Noticed car drivers have been trying to kill me since I began riding again in 1973. Sometimes the cage drivers even blame the bike for being there. I see no good coming of engaging these idiots in confrontational situations while moving, it is not worth it. Get a plate number and call it in, or flag an leo down if possible.

This is prob not directly related but I think theres a lot of jealous cagers out there. What Do I mean by that? Well being a passenger once in a backseat going to a concert, we got hung in traffic. Up comes a couple of crotchers, sitting in back of us reving their engines awaiting traffic, they start to lane split. Well we don't have this in NY and off they went weaving through the stop n go traffic. I heard many stick their heads out (cagers) and yell... "You f_ing azhole idiots! I hope u kill yourself!" It was July and we had a convertible so we had a window with a view. I sat up on the back edge where the top goes in... I was tracking the whole thing.

Well a couple miles of this stop n go and an hour later we meet them again. This time their bikes are laying on the thruway, I witnessed a pickup deliberately steering and running over the rear wheel on one of the bikes yelling out 'you azhole deserve this!' Maybe it was something else but people who were waiting were not kind to the fact that they could jack the line. I also attribute it to the fact these kids were rubbing it in with their throttle actions and noise slapped in your face.

Never knew the outcome of that mess, once the state troupers arrived via the side shoulder, we got finally whisked outta there. The concert was Motley Crüe btw and we had plenty of 'girls girls girls' and it wasn't at the dollhouse in Ft. Launderdale

This case is sad and distressing. The DA in San Diego is incompetent.

About your Motley Crue story: The thing to do is avoid road rage 100%. Don't engage with angry cagers at all, ever. Get the **** out of their way, NOW. You just swallow your ego. Are you really concerned with being "showed up" or "protecting your rights" or whatever? Dude, grow up and stay alive. A "real man" knows when to pick a fight and when to back off. Those people are dangerous, they hold a huge advantage over us and we are vulnerable. Get off the highway, or slow down so they are ahead of you. Road Rage is for morons and dead motorcyclists.

Need to give you either new reading glasses or contacts... I was in the back seat and our car was a spectator only but thanks for the advice ;)

So...I probably shouldn't have laid out over the left lane blocker's car hood and given him the full bird with prejudice while passing on the right and scooting back left into the #1 lane...whilst enjoying summertime construction season on one of Chicago's best Tollways.

Sorry, I was addressing a "generic" you, not the actual You, Top_Speed. Yes, you, Top_Speed, were only a witness. And I was only a bloviator.

Problem is Don, with your PS skills, I can't trust your visual as the actual definition. Hmmmm?
