A very handy, small in size, USB charger that plugs into a battery tender wire that a lot of us use.

"To charge iPhone, iPad, iPod, GPS, Camera or any Smartphone or device that be charged via USB Designed for use on any 12v battery - Input: 12v - Output: 2.1A Maximum

To charge iPhone, iPad, iPod, GPS, Camera or any Smartphone or device that be charged via USB Designed for use on any 12v battery. $11.95"

The web site show's the part is out of stock but found one to check out at the local Yamaha dealer, Ride Motorsports in Woodinville, WA.

Much cheaper than the setup that I already have.

I bought one at a rally and my iPhone 5S will not recognize it as a legit charging source.

I have the same one, Amazon has them for $10.
Here's a link to the Amazon page: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DJ5KEF4

I use it to top off the charge on the Sena SM10 bluetooth transmitter mounted on the handlebar. A fully-charged SM10 will last about 15 hours, so on long days it needs to be recharged. (I have wired connections from my Zumo 550 and V1 into the SM10, which transmits to the SMH10 mounted on my helmet. The SMH10 lasts about 17 hours, and I keep a USB battery pack [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EK6MMI8] in my jacket pocket to top it off on long days.)

I have one from amazon and have this problem with my iphone. It will charge for a while than I get a message on my phone that it is not compatible. If I unplug and plug back in it will charge without issue. I seem to get the error when the phone is fully charged at 100%.

There is another brand from BurnsMoto that I did not like at all. I had to send it back 3 times because after a few rides they would stop working.

Guess I'll have to add a BT lead off the battery...at least I won't be cutting more holes in the plastic now!

I purchased the Cycle Gear brand SAE-> USB pigtail and it's crap. I get the same error message with my iPhone that's been reported here. It was only $10 so no big deal, but it's annoying considering it's *just* a USB charger. This is using the official apple lightning cable, fwiw... My guess is there's not enough consistency in the current for the phone to like it. I've not had any other problems charging off anything else that was USB. I just wanted to give this a shot since the cigarette lighter adapters always seem to eventually vibrate their way out just enough to not work...

Has anyone had any better success with other brands?

I have something similar - it connects to the battery tender pig tail and has a long enough cord on it to sit in my tank bag. I carry an iPhone cord in my tank bag so if I need to charge my phone while riding, it takes just a minute to hook 'er up and get 'er charging.

This isn't the exact one I have (mine has two USB ports so I can also charge Sooze's phone at the same time) but it's very similar:

ETA: Found it! This is the one I have - I just removed the handlebar mounting bracket thingy:

I have an SM10 as well, but my battery does not last 17 hours! They estimated it would last 8 hours and it lasted 8 hours on the dot. Since I ride more than 8 hours, I bought a direct wire power adapter from RocketMoto - the power comes from my FZ1 under the passenger seat and the SM10 lives in my glove box. Here's the link to RocketMoto: SM10 Power Adapter Clicky. Don't worry that they all say out of stock - they make them to order, depending on the length you want.
