Yep, sure can.
In installing a Vista Cruse on my '05 last year, I used the stock grips, but carefully cut down the inboard flange of the grip by about 1/8" to clear the body of the Vista Cruise. A couple of months ago I installed grip puppies over the stock grips, but this constricted them enough so that they stretched somewhat, rubbing against the Vista Cruise. So I removed the bar end and added a spacer (made of 1/2" PVC). This allowed the slightly skinnier, but longer, stock grip to be moved a bit so that it would clear the Vista Cruise.

BTW: My hearing isn't as good as it was when I was younger, but I'm not deaf, SO NO NEED TO YELL!
