My VistaCruise has stopped working. I know that for a simple device, it sure has me frustrated. It's been on the bike for a month now and has stopped locking. It will lock, but then the thumb release will slowly release. I took it off and apart and re-installed it. Same thing. Tried the various set screw adjustments and no help either. Any ideas / suggestions? It was installed / modified in the Warchild method. The bike did sit out in the rain (3hrs) a few days ago but I saw no corrosion / dirt....

There are two flat faces on the lever. I noticed that mine was not very well "defined" when I bought it. I took it apart, filed the faces flat and put it back together. Be sure not to get too carried away with the face that rests when it is locked... this is what gives you the grip. The problem is, if you file the "locked" position too much, you have to file the unlocked position as well to make up for it. Don't worry, there is plenty of adjustment in the screw.

After I modified mine, it worked and locked a lot better. NEVER had it come undone on it's own. Hope this helps.

+1 On Duff's comments. I had to do the same thing. Thereafter, it has never failed once.

Used for for many miles today. Pissing off my riding buddies who were unable to relax and stretch as I did.

+2. Make the 2 surfaces that rest against each other flat (file, sand paper, Dremel, whatever) and it should work again.

Just curious, but for ~30 bucks shouldn't they come flat already? Seems like lousy quality control if so many of you have to fix it for them...just wondering.

For $30, I'm happy that the one I have is the one I installed on my 1984 GL1200A back in 1995, moved to my 1998 GL1500Se in 1999 and then moved it again to my FJR in October of 2002.

Ohio.....I agree with you. Hope you remain confidant in the way the world treats you.....because this world is going to hell in a hand basket. Just be ready for "disrespect". If I don't show it to you....I'm not helping you out.
