So it appears TN is on the verge of hiring Lane Kiffen.

Pros:

-Great recruiter

-Ties to Calf. pipeline of talent

- Well liked by players and has coached pros

- Young

- Energetic

Cons:

- No HC experience at the college level

- Limited experience even at the college level where he was a coordinator for 2 seasons...other than that I believe he has been a position coach.

- hmm...opening's at Washington and they didnt even look at him yet he was in the PAC10 for a number of years...wonder why.

- Young, but very likely to go pro again if he suceeds at UT as he wants to prove Al Davis wrong at Oakland

- OC at USC ofr 2 seasons but if I remember correctly, Norm Chow had the offense before him. That offense could have run on cruise control for 2+ yrs before it started to decline with all the systems, players Chow had in place

I am afraid TN has hired itself another Bill Callahan and not a Pete Carroll from the NFL ranks....I hope I am wrong but given that we had to spend $6+ million to oust Fulmer I am certainly disappointed in having a kid come in and take over the reigns.

BTW, go VOLS and beat Kentucky!

Looks like another Thanksgiving turkey to me.

According to local paper Bill Callahan and Ed Orgeron are listed as possible assistants.

If you can't hire a winner take three losers.

I dont understand all the excitement over Oregron. Maybe, just maybe he was a good assistant under the right circumstances but IMO he comes across as a bumbling idiot.

Unfortunately, I am not sure this was a good year to be looking for a HC. Leach is too eccentric and his philosophy reminds me too much of Mumme.

Gundy or Davis would have been clear #1's for me but Davis is set at age 58 at UNC and no one, not even ND can afford Gundy as they have a few boosters willing to part with some vacation islands they own to keep him.
