"Can anyone tell me if this height measurement is from the center or the sides next to the bracket?

It says 21" H but doesn't state where it's measured from.

I too can't wait to hear some feedback on this shield. Looks promising."

I measured my stock '03 shield and it measures 15" from top to just below the "W" bracket-this is right in the center od the shield.

It looks like the VScreen may go below the "W" bracket maybe a 1/2" from looking at the picture of it. The website says the screen is 20.5" tall-I assume at this point it is from top to bottom edges.

Once someone has one in hand, please take a measurement for the rest of us.

Curious to hear how the shield performs-if as advertised and with the height, will it still allow good airflow in the full-down postion for summer riding.

The Stock '03 is a smaller windscreen then the '04 and '05 if my memory serves me correct....

I was also wondering what the size difference is compared to the Stock '05

Hope someone can help with some info on this.... :)

I'm All In .......(nice little word play there, don't you think).......for this screen. The stock on an '06 is horrible. I have to lay on the tank to hear the exhaust. I'm afraid to use my Starcom as the volume would have to be so loud.

:( Sorry I could not arrange a GB through NC, however once the inforamation is available on price for this vstream; that someone else is working on I am in. :yahoo:

The sooner the better for the windshield! This thing is beating me up...

Mark at Cal Sci is almost ready with his....I am gonna buy the first one on the market...

Subject: V Stream Windshield by National Cycle

Dear RogDeb,

This is John Powers, Product Line Manager for National Cycle, Inc. National Cycle the leading manufacturer of aftermarket motorcycle windshields, and we are introducing a new windshield for the 2001-2005 FJR1300, called the V Stream. Let me tell you a little about this exciting new screen.

The V Stream is a unique shield due to its “V” shape, which pushes the air flow out away from the rider’s head and shoulders, resulting in an extremely quiet and turbulence-free ride. In addition to its unique shape, the V Stream is constructed of 6mm Lexan polycarbonate, making it the strongest and most impact-resistant FJR windshield on the market. The V Stream also features our Quantum hard coating, making it 30 times more scratch resistant than our competitors’ acrylic shields.

I would like to extend to you a one-time offer to try one of our V Stream shields for your FJR. My only request is that after one month of use you write an account of your experience with this windshield and post it on FJROwners.com. After that you may keep the shield.

If you are interested (or not interested), please give me a call back at 708-343-0400 x 115 or email me at [email protected]

I have one other request – if you do choose to mention this offer to others, please also mention to them that it is a one-time offer that I am making to you only, and that any other requests by others for the same offer will be refused, so please don’t ask. However, these shields are available now for purchase online at www.nationalcycle.com, or by calling us at 877-972-7336.

Sincerely,

John Powers

Rogdeb, looks like the offer is for you specifically? If you are not interested, maybe you can contact John with someone's info that may be interested?

I measured my Yamaha Accessory windshield and it measures 19" tall, so that makes the V Stream taller yet.

Sure would like to see some more pics of the V Stream FJR screen-side view raised, and lowered.

Installed VStream this morning, 160 mile test ride.

1st I always ride with ear plugs, didn't try it without. It's very quiet fully up. Was riding 2 up with Starcom and wind noise from rear mike was greatly reduced. Girlfriend really really loves it wind blast doesn't hit her around helmet area. VOX worked better too.

Wind blast goes around helmet, hold my hands up and its 6-8 inches to the sides. Back pressure is almost completely gone, that bothered me the most. Wasn't very windy today, but wind noise did increase in crosswinds. Normal for any shield I guess.

Size is taller than 05. Measured 19 3/4 from center of W bolt hole. Stock is about 16 from same hole. Fit was perfect, all holes drilled correctly. Easy to install.

I removed a Rifle Plus3 2 wider. VStream is better in my opinion.

Price $200 derivered. 4 days to ship. Fit perfect, thicker material should be stronger.

I'm happy. Ride safe

mech 1 twa,

Tell us how the windscreen feels through the full range (full down to full up). Do you think it would flow enough air in the full down position for hot weather use and still offer some advantage? I've been pretty happy with the Givi shield w/Saeng edging as a 4 season windscreen, but I'm always looking for better! Thanks for your evaluation.

so your saying that its 3 3/4" higher then stock... hmmm thats a little taller then I would have liked...

but I would still like some more info, and Pics...

I don't think Id be selling my stocker for the really hot days....

thanks

I'd also be very interested in this screen. I have both oem screens (stock and tall). The tall is good for cold weather, but I don't like either for warm weather. Short shield up, I don't get enough air. Short shield down drives my Chatterbox crazy...makes it almost useless. I'd love to find the perfect shield. Time will tell if this is it. I'm fairly short at 5'8" and 31" inseam, Sargent seat, Penske shock, and no bar risers. I think this V-stream is kinda fugly, but if it solves all my windscreen issues, I might just have to suck it up.

And Rogdeb....lucky bastage. :D

Not so lucky Dave

I didn't take advantage of the offer but I passed it on to a more worthy guy

I know !! call me stupid. Just didn't want a screen that shape or that high

Windshield is tall, look through it fully up. In lowered position its almost as tall as stock. Wind noise rises with it down. Seems to flow more air around sides. Armpits felt a little air at speed. I'm 5'11 32 inseam.

It will block a lot of air when temps. hot. Not sure if best for summer. It was mid 60's yesterday and I was warm at times. Sun was out.

Didn't take any pictures. Try it tonight, not sure how to post yet.

Rode to Georgia BMW Rally on my FJR1300 this past week-end testing my modified windshield (below). I cut the holes in my Cee Bailey 4x3 with flip to memic something like a Cal-Sci windshield - Results after 1100 mile trip in rain - Back pressure and buffeting great improvement at higher speeds (with a completely loaded down cycle with camping gear and full bags) over Cee Bailey non modified....BUT still noisey even with earplugs..I too am awaiting test results of the VSTREAM to see if noise is reduced. (By the way, it was such a heavy rain that water was coming from all directions - no noticable problem with the holes and water - for those that have asked about the holes in rain).

Several of us seem to be waiting for real life results from the VSTREAM. B)

Ordered mine today thru a local shop that gives me a discount. Hopefully someone will chime in with a good review pretty soon. I figured I'd roll the dice as I'm going on a weekender to Colorado in a couple of weeks. I'll give it a good test. Hopefully I won't be able to report on how it works in the rain!

When mine arrives midweek, I'll measure it same method I did the Givi now in play. On the centerstand I'll measure from top lip of the screen to the underside of my garage roll up door. This is a quick way to see net height change (without factoring effect of compound curves). The Givi ended up prox 1" taller than '04 stock. Curious to see how the VStream "measures up". I'll post those numbers later this week, then a follow up report after riding the bike some distance next Saturday.

If anyone is interested in the new VStream windshield to fit the '03-'05 FJR, contact Gary McCoy later (Thursday-Friday)this week and he should have some definite pricing on the windshield.

He mentioned the price should be in the $125-130 range(plus shipping).

I don't recall how long before the 2006 FJR model screens will be available(1-2 months?), but I'm sure Gary will be able to help you out as well when they are available!!!
