I did an in-state Saddle Sore over the weekend and even turned the standards up on myself to see if I could do it. Full write-up to follow, but suffice it to say my right hand is numb form doing a circumnavigation of the interior of Washington that was just over 1500 miles in about 30 hours. I tried to avoid interstates and found a lot of 2 lane twisty roads.

The ride also visited 5 corners of the state in less than 24 hours.

Tri-Cities to Anatone (SE corner), Metaline Falls (NE), Blaine (sorta N), Neah Bay (NW), Vancouver (SW), and back to Tri-Cities.

Route is below. Pictures and write-up to follow after my brain resets from it's tappioca state. 40 minutes of sleep in 36 hours is a new one for me.

"Washington State, the final frontier. These are the voyages of Iggy's FJR. Its 30 hour mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no Iron Butt Rider has gone before."

Congrats, Ignacio !! :clapping: :yahoo: :clapping: :yahoo: :clapping: :yahoo:

So - if you do it again, maybe doing it clockwise would make your left hand numb? :p

WELL DONE IGGY!!!!!!!! :clapping: :yahoo:

(My ass hurts just thinking about it...)

Now you have me thinking about 4 corners of Indiana. Let's see what TRIPS has to say about THAT mileage...

CONGRATS! Waiting for the write up!

Way to go Iggy-san.

You smell less like grass-hopper with every ride.<G>

I was kind of hoping to join you on this, but instead took my Wilburs off for a re-build.

Do a 5-state All-State ride if you can before August.

Heh.

Congrats man, way to go.

BAH! That's nothing. Last summer I did the 5 corners of DE and it didn't take me anywhere near 36 hours.

Seriously good job man! :clapping:

Clearly, I made a fundamental career faux pas by choosing to be a computer professional and councilmember on the side. My professional schedule and meager vacation seems to conflict with wandering the country on a whim.

Maybe I should have been a marine biologist, get me a sugar mama, or inherit a bunch of money.

OH! I know! I should have become a part-time architect!

Why is it not a BB?
I don't remember IBA authorizing in-state Bun Burners. I think they only certify Saddle Sores at this point.

I made sure and have it documented both ways and going to ask the IBA how they want to certify it. If they'll certify as an in-state BB I'll go that route. If not, I'll certify it as an in-state SS as I already have a BBG to my credit.

Mainly though I did this ride as a personal challenge. It's practice for Zelenz's upcoming 5 day SPANK extravaganza. The ride gave me a glimpse into how I'd perform for more than 24 hours. I can see it's a totally different critter with the multiple day-night cycle. 3 a.m. to 4 a.m. is hard for me to make it through without a nap. But when I do sleep for 40 minutes I learned I can make it to dawn and clear until the next evening without paying off the sleep deficit.

And it's quite a bitch w/o the nap. BTDT, not recommended.

Great ride!!!!!!!!!!!

I am doing the SS1000 Missouri this weekend. I would have to circle twice to get 1500 miles.

Very nice ride Iggy...

I'm already well into planning a RAT (Ride Around Texas) early next year... 3100 miles in 70 hours... Wheeeee!

Iggy Baby!

Part-time architect has allowed me two bikes and almost 80K in pure sMiles.

Although the part-time thing has always been more like 50 a week.

Life is a rally, you're always gunnin' for more miles and more time. <G>

Again, nice ride dude.
