I'm in the market for a FJR, I'm waiting for an expected bonus from work in September.

I want a GenII and like black. A good used '07 or '08 worth a fly and buy would be perfect. A left over '08 with a factory warranty and a dealer trying to move old stock would be great. A good deal on a new '09 would be fine.

But my question is, when will news on changes for the 2010 be released? Will I still be able to find a '08 at that late of a date? Are the '09's sitting on the showroom floors or are they moving? Will they still be moving once info on 2010's comes out?

My other issue is that I only have space for one bike and do not want to part with my FZ1. So building a garage is going to need to be done as soon as I can get the permits in this stupid county.

We'll know around November...just like every year. You can be sure as soon as anybody actually knows anything it will be posted on this forum and anything before is pure speculation and notoriously unreliable.

It used to be that previous year models didn't sit on the showroom floor. With the soft economy and end of PDP...they tend to be more available. The release of the '10 won't magically change that.

That's kind of the issue isn't it. By the time the 2010's hit the showroom, it will be to late for a fall trip to Vermont.

I don't know. It's a couple of months before my check comes anyway.

I'm partial to the 08 Black one especially since I've got one and I like the silver wheels and IIRC, the 09 has black wheels (or is there an option). If one is available now, I'd go for it if at a good price.

Well, with altitude sickness, poor ignition key soldering, redesigned cam chain tensioner (maybe?), fuel mileage display problem, and, am I leaving anything out, maybe Yamaha finally has Gen II "right" for the '09 model. But I think I can hold on to my '05 'till November and see what upgrades the '10 has. I'm expecting nothing more than a new paint job. WBill

I'm with you, WBill. Unless they come out with a great color, I'm going to keep my '05. I like it well enough, though I do like some of the later model features.

Last year, info on the 2009 model was released on Sept. 8th, so you won't have to wait and see for very long after that bonus check starts burning a hole in your pocket. If you like cleaning your bike, black is the color to have, so no reason to wait. You're in the driver's seat, so to speak. Personally, I'd get one ASAP, so you can start enjoying the experience....

haha on you mister ! i know all about the new 2010  just i'm the only one and i ain't telling

Every bike, like wimmen,have issues.

Gen 1's will fry you're balls and tick.

Gen 2's will leave you stranded with bad ignition switches etc.

I'd say buy my 91' UltraClassic for 60k USD and have a good bike!

Just sayin'..

Coming to CT and riding home on my black 2008 now would be a lot more fun (and cheaper) than waiting for the 2010.

Want to buy?

FWIW, I was at a dealer in Tulsa Saturday scoping out a new '09 A (I may get a call later this week on a deal with them - is black really the fastest color?); anyways, the salesman told me they won't know anything on the '10s until September. I just wanted to know the color for 2010.

Call it the good 'ol american idea of play now pay later, but I opted for a used FJR rather than waiting to have the money for a new one. And then as the money comes in, I'm spending it in accessories for my old FJR. And the total will be a lot less than a new, UN-customized FJR will be. And I bet it'll last almost as long..........

WAIT TILL 2011!!!!

That's when Yamaha will update the FJR into the best motorcycle of all time!!!

LOL... isn't that always the case? Always something new.

I'm NOT looking at buying a 2010 model, no matter what they do to it. The current GenII looks good to me. The question is, if the 2010's are improved a lot or made a GenIII, how much will the, umm, "hurt" the market for GenII's?

I heard that release of the 2010 models will be delayed so the factory and dealers can clear out remaining 2009 inventory...
