Hi all,
I've been reading the threads about the 06 AE and have had my 05 ABS up for sale to get an 06 AE. Reading the problems the 06 and 06 AEs have makes me wonder whether I should wait and do a PDP order this fall for an 07 and sell the 05 next spring. I'm ambivalent and would like your thoughts 06 riders.
Here's the glitches I've read about so far:
1. throttle on/off is more abrupt from a redesign of the throttle pulley system.
2. On some bikes one of the mirrors vibrate even when tightened down and so the image in the mirror is fuzzy.
3. The TSB about the "average mpg" stuck at 17.
4. Stronger return springs on the throttle.
Yamaha has solved the heat problem but in doing so seems to have created other problems. People have come up with workarounds for all but #2. But when you're buying a new bike that's been redesigned I don't think you should have to devise workarounds. So I'm thinking of holding off for now, riding the 05 through the winter and getting an 07 AE in hopes they've addressed some of these issues in the next model year. What do you think?
