Do tell....
Last night I rode the FJR into San Francisco for my office Christmas party. I parked on the street, and when I came out the left saddlebag, with Alpinestar waterproof (tis the season) boots and sweatshirt inside, was gone.

I'm glad it wasn't the bag with my helmet in it. Not sure what I would have done (ride home without a helmet?). As it was I rode home wearing my dress shoes, since I was in a suit and tie (wore my Aerostitch over the suit). The hotel was on the edge of the Tenderloin (Skid Row), so now there's a homeless person wearing nice waterproof boots and a Cal sweatshirt.

Not sure how the bag came off so cleanly. I'm wracking my brain trying to figure out if I closed it properly. Anyway, I'm thinking from now on I get a cable lock to secure each bag through the handle to the rear rack.

Thanks, HF. I will PM FJR Floyd.

Probably forced the handle, and your bag is in a dumpster somewhere. Bummer. Thieves suck.
Today I went on a noon-time walk and cruised the blocks where I got ripped off, searching the dumpsters (from what I could see from the sidewalk), school yards, parking lots, etc. No dice. Yesterday I paid $180 for a new pair of Alpinestar waterproof boots, and now I've got to shell out several hundred for a bag. F**k!

Hmmmm.... not covered under insurance? University Motors gave me great prices on body panels when I decided to drive off of a curved mountain road.

UM was under $400, maybe under 350, don't recollect e'zactly, for my '03 left-side bag after my low-side in October.

Depending on yer deductible, and gear coverage, might be worth a claim.

BTW, I still have the rashed silver bag you can have, cheap. Maybe you can practice sanding, filling, and painting. Not sure you can fix the black rubber piece, though.

I'm not actually sure what it would cost to fix next to buying one, but it says something that Progressive bought me one.

There's a left bag for an 06 on ebay for $9.99 + $20s/h w/ no bids on it right now. It's scuffed, but you could pick up the bag and have Garauld paint it to match the blue on your '05 for way less than a new bag. Hell, I paid more than that for a used lid, much less the whole bag.
