Going to have the instrument cluster replaced @ the end of the season because....the trip A mileage indicators last digit doesn't show the digit for 6...it goes from 5-7....mileage is 26852, 2004 model....(they don't fix them....don't know why?)...(stopped by to replace tires after the round about trip to WFO....mechanic noticed it, ordered one & told me after the fact....go figure? )

The triangular piece of cowling behind the front wheel on my '05 was scratched when I picked it up... Tony had the paperwork in the system before I left the dealership, and I got it a month or so later. Haven't installed it yet... figure I'll keep it fresh till the original one gets sufficiently beat up...

04 non-abs with 88,000 miles. No warranty repairs whatsoever.

Looks like I have a fork seal that is going bad, but with 88k, don't think that will be a warranty fix.

Tell ya'll why I ask. This is the 11th month for my little feej and I have procrastinated about purchasing the YES warranty. Now I know $389 from D&H is very reasonable insurance but I have had a rash of unexpected expenses of late and right now, the money is just REALLY tight. So long story short, I am trying to calculate my risk of not purchasing the extended warranty. The resale is not a factor for me as I will ride the wheels off this bike before she ever leaves. I realize this could bite me in the arse later.

Well....you could always flip a quarter Scab....& go with that....if it doesn't break the bank....I would do it....actually I did do it on mine..... ....

'05 Scratched glove box cover on delivery (cuz they didn't know how to operate the lock :glare: ) New box under warranty installed by me. 34,000 trouble free miles since then, but I'm still waiting on the recalls for heat, throttle, kickstand, slow paint, Howie Wobble, etc, etc, etc.

I realize this could bite me in the arse later.
The prophecy realized, eh?

'04 - Fork seal went bad at 20000 miles. Dealer replaced under warranty. I paid to have the other done since it was due for a fork oil change anyway. Same seal was leaking again at 21000 miles. (speculation) When first seal was replaced, the washer under the seal was damaged during tear down. Dealer replaced under warranty. I had a ticker, too.

The self-fulfilling ones are the worst.

2003, 30k miles, routine maintenance only.

I will have them listen to it, just in case, before the YES expires (so it's on the books).

I've had the ticker repair job on my 04 at 24k, side stand switch a couple thousand miles after that and the TPS at 31k. All covered under warranty. If I was youse I'd scratch a little jack from somewhere and get that YES.

Without a doubt get it. Even if money is tight, borrow from someone. It is well worth it even for just peice of mind. B)

Had the oil seal at the foward end of the drive shaft replaced twice. bad seal first time. insturment cluster changed cause trip meters died and was one of the early ticker repairs. All was done before the original warranty ran out but i do have y.e.s. it's the pay now or pay later idea. later will cost a lot more than the extended warranty will now if much of anything goes wrong. 50k now with a year of warranty left. i almost hope it starts ticking again so i can get a free valve job while still covered and avoid doing a valve adjust for another year or two.
