I'm semi-working on similar functionality for the newer iPhones since they are GPS enabled. Transmitting your location at some interval to a website of your choosing and/or Google.

Details as it unfolds...

Similar apps are available for Blackberry GPS enable devices.

No it doesn't have the 911 functionality, but should be good for free or next to free if/when released.

The problem remains that it only works when you press the OK button. His site won't pick up locations if you're in the automatic "SpotCasting" mode.

That's the point actually. You don't have to pay for the premium service if you don't want to.
