My Wilber's shock was leaking fluid all over the garage floor, so I pulled it out and sent it back to Klaus for repair. I thought I'd take this opportunity to do some cleaning while I've got it disassembled. The problem is the bike is in the garage and the garage drain doesn't work with the ground frozen. So I'd rather not use any water.

So I'm looking for waterless ideas on cleaning the road splooge and grease off the swingarm area.

Also agree on the magical Honda stuff, however, the tree huggers have successfully got their way and Honda stopped making it. If you can find some, buy it and let me know - i'll gladly cover shipping and throw in a few bucks for a 6-pack for your troubles. I heard that it is being reformulated, but, not sure if that's done yet. Most bike shops have some form of spray cleaner/polish, but, none were as good as the Honda Spray Cleaner Polish (except the Harley and Kawasaki branded stuff which was just relabled Honda stuff).

btw - be on the lookout for a 'clean bikes are gay' post

I figger I gotta pee at least once a day...

Quick, easy, but I don't take it on the road - that would be, well, you know, thilly.

I've had good luck with Honda's "Spray Cleaner and Polish" in the spray can. B)
+1

It's what I use on wheels and forks/swingarms when doing tire changes. Great stuff. And last time I heard the rumor that they aren't making it any longer I bought a case. Only to find out they are still making it. I think it's only a few places that restrict selling it. Does anybody out there know for sure whether they stopped making it or not?

Edit: A quick google got me this: Online source for Honda Spray Cleaner and Polish

They still make the Honda Cleaner and Polish. They simply will not sell it in California now. My local Honda shop has cases of the stuff.

Plexus cleaner is great too, but I use in mostly on the windscreen..

I never use a hose to clean my bike anyway, and the only water I use is a mixture of Distilled water and a drop or two of Dawn dish detergent that I put in a spray bottle. (Good for getting dried out dead bug parts off windscrreen or fairing)

I use "Sparkle" multi-surface cleaner on the mirrors, and it's supposed to be safe for paint, but I only use it to clean the exhaust pipes.

A bottle of leather cleaner for the seats, and your choice of wax...and that is about it.

As for the wax, I am using this stuff called "Ice" that is a clear liquid that leaves no white powdery residue. Auto Zone sells it.

Beer!

Just make sure and use the bad, frilly beers like Bud, Bud Lite, Miller Lite, Coors, Coors Lite (well... just about any lite).

Save the good stuff for when you need some refreshment.

How about some brite shine some turps a few rags an some elbow grease you lazy *****...

shoot, Wallymart is all out of "turps", but I did order some bnips, glops, and a six-pack of cewts.

Geez....all this fancy cleaning stuff. I use plain ole Fantastic in the spray bottle.

Eagle One spray and wax has worked well for me. I also like Plexus for the screen...however, I got caught in some sudden snow the other day (only 1/2" to 1") but the salt trucks were out and my bike is trashed...afraid I will have to break out the old waterhose without a nozzle and soap it up really good first.

:(
