Been a member of this forum since my Black Cherry FJR, but I kind of drifted off since I sold that baby and have my eye on an Africa Twin, if we can get this new business off the ground. The missus and I are retired now and as I said we're starting a new business. It will help all motorcyclists who have hard bags on their bikes. FJR owners, Kaw14 owners, BMW owners, HD owners and more. But it requires us to borrow a saddlebag for measuring and fitment purposes, as well as product photography. Got help from a local BMW dealer and an HD dealer, as well as a 1400 Concours owner who was very generous. Therefore, the products for those bikes are already done. But the Yamaha dealers around here aren't much help, so I'm turning to the FJRForum collective.

The saddlebag needs to be clean and pretty much scratch free and we'll need it over a weekend (about 4 days total). Right side is preferred. Don't need a key as all use will be external measuring and photography, so we don't need access to the inside. We can discuss payment in either a modest amount of cash (remember, we're retired) or if you prefer and like the new product, we can provide it and install it as compensation.

We're located in Ontario, CA. Please contact me via Personal Message if you can help.

Thanks in advance.

Ontario CAnada, right? Or was that Ontario CAlifornia? Doesn't matter. Both too far. [edit: I should have stuck a smiley face in there someplace. jk] Good luck with the new biz.

By the way, you making bag liners, or something else?

Ontario, California, Mike. About 40 minutes south and east of L.A. Yup, Sacramento is too far, but thank you anyway.

Something else. We'd rather not tip our hand just yet, although we'll obviously have to with whoever loans us the saddlebag.

I would be willing to lend you my bags but not sure they will work for your purpose. My bags have been mounted for 70,000 miles and they do have some minor rock chips and small scratches. I live in Norco and work in Rancho so I am close if you want me to stop by one of these days to check them out.

Let me know

I'd sure love to take a look at them and see if they'll work for our purposes. I'm sending you a Private Message with our contact info.

I'd send you my left bag for a week or so for free, but after 106,000 miles there's nothing on my bike that's pretty anymore. My right bag was recently destroyed by a coworker and its replacement isn't very photogenic yet as I did a rush job repainting it.

I have to say that I'm extremely curious as to what you're up to though.

Hey Fernando,

If it doesn't work out with Ynotride, I have a set you can borrow. Mine are in almost mint condition, no scratches or dings that I've noticed yet. I chatted with you at the Chuckwagon in Torrey last September while passing through on a ride, and you were there for the BMW gathering. The only problem is that I'm out in Palm Springs, which would require some driving. I'd be happy to deliver them. I'd need the bag back by 4/17 since I'm planning a 10-12 day ride right after that.

Yes, I remember. I'll be seeing Ynotride's bags in the next week or so, and if for any reason they've got too many miles on them, I'll be in touch. If that's too close to your departure, we can do it after your return. However, I'm hoping Dan's bags are in good shape.

Thank you for your generous offer.

Thanks Dan and Jim. You've helped a great deal with the prototyping and product development. But the dark color of your bags made the photography and video come up a little short on contrast, so we're going to need some help from someone with lighter colored FJR bags.

We STILL need to borrow an FJR Saddlebag.

Well, there's good news and bad news. The good news is that we were able to borrow some saddlebags and do most of the measuring, prototyping and fitment needed for our new product. The bad news is that we got dark bags and the photography and videography is getting too much reflection back from the mirror-like finishes of these colors, and it with the dark colors the reflections interfere with the product's visibility and definition.

So we're still looking for a set of saddlebags to borrow, here in SoCal, but would hope to get either some silver/grayish ones, or perhaps some red ones. We need them for about 3-4 days (over a weekend plus a day). We're making one final pre-production change to our product and its fitment, so your bags would be used for that. And then we'll be doing the photography and shooting video.

If anyone can help us, we'd really appreciate it.

Thank You in advance to whoever is generous enough to lend a hand.

The project is complete insofar as developing the product. However, we still need to film an installation video, and for that we're still looking to borrow a set of Grey, Red or lighter-colored saddlebags.

If anyone is able to help, please PM me.
