Apparently it was a Distributed Denial of Service Attack (DDoS) on my hosting company's site. I don't understand these things but there is info here for any of you that are true net heads:

Thanks for the update, I did sneak an order in to help reduce your pain a little.

As a fellow net head, I couldn't resist, A Distributed Denial of Service is multiple machines working together to send bad information (lots of it or info that is too large to process) to a website or host to limit it's functions abd keep it from processing complete.

Some people need better hobbies, IMO.
