Bought a used Wee Strom for my Grandson and think it works for my almost 70-year-old body.

Any idea what an 04 with 92,000 miles is worth?

Just finished an 8,500 mile trip-changed oil @ 6,000 miles and less than 1/2 quart down.

Audiovox CC, heated grips and heated vest outlet with Warm & Safe controls. May try to part out the Penske and the Eibach fork springs. Ian, Iowa

oooooh. Don't do it. Unless you think you just have to. Hate to see FJR owners give it up.

Appreciate your input but I found that the Wee with aftermarket windscreen wasn't that bad on the "I drone" and was a hoot in the twisties; plus, I'm a geezer. Ian. Iowa

I ride a WeeStrom too and understand the attraction it has for Ian. Lighter weight, lower seat height, the low speed fun factor is off the hook.

I don't have any clue what your FJR is worth, sorry.

But stick around, ok Ian?

Went from the Wee to the FJR. Miss it, but would miss the FJR more if I went back to it. Wife does not miss the Wee. Obviously, most of us "need" more than one bike. We are about to an 1100 mile trip to AR and happy to to do this on the FJR instead of anything else.

I had a 2005 DL-1000, and I think the geometry is about the same. The weight is higher on the DL-1000 compared to the DL-650, but so is the power.

I enjoyed my V-Strom very much, and after I installed a Corbin seat, I was quite pleased with it. The geometry agreed with me far more easily than the geometry of the FJR .... and even better than the R1200GS, both of which have come and gone since the V-Strom got traded in 2007.

In any event, I looked up an 04 FJR1300 and it would appear to be considered a "high mileage" bike as far as resale is concerned. Normal mileage in my neck of the woods would be around 35000 miles, and that would put it in the $5000 range for a private sale. I have sold bikes with mileage in the 30,000 range, and it is sometimes a tough sell. You have to really push the idea that "these bikes are just getting broken in at 100,000 miles." Of course it helps if you believe what you're telling.

My 06 AE with less than 11,000 miles on it, and 3 years of Y.E.S. coverage with unlimited mileage remaining could not bring $7K, either being sold by me, or by the local Yammy dealer (on their floor), or at the dealer that eventually took it in trade back in May.

You might want to just keep the FJR and let your grandson work up to it if you're really done. Then take his Wee-Strom in an even trade. He'll probably be happy ... and so will you.

I came from a Wee to the FJR.

I suspect you will be giving the FJR away if you sell her.

Better to keep her if there is room in the stable.

+1

We all know that FJR's are good for many miles, and yours for another 100K easy, butt, trying to sell yours would be for pittance if at all due to the miles and age. Better to keep it IMO if you can; never can tell when you'd want to break it out or pass it down...

Thanks for the input. You guys are right about the Feejer being worth nothing. Keeping three bikes in the garage might be a tough sell to SWMBO-I also have an FZ1. For years, I didn't have to sell any bikes, just gave them to one of my kids. They now have more $$ than I do and buy their own.

Bikes sure aren't worth much now, bought the 07 Wee with 26,000 miles for $3100. It was in showroom condition and came with two sets of GIVI side cases, Corbin and stock seat, Madstadt windshield holder and four screens and a center stand.

Did a little less than 2,000 miles in AR last week and it was a hoot. Thanks again. Ian, Iowa

I can fit five bikes on my side of the garage, did the last five years, but now I am bike poor with only four.

Keep them under covers and the wife hardly notices or gives it a thought.

I had a 2007 dl650 v-strom, the Wee. Had it for one year and rode it 10,000 miles. Great bike for what it was. Dual purpose.

Great for in town commuter, short trip to the lake, work, run errands, economical, easy to read the speedo!!

The I rode it from Tulsa to Oklahoma City. (90 miles)

The suspension was hard, the seat was hard, bike was blown all over the rode. By the time I got there, I wanted to throw it into a bar ditch and take a bus back. Rode it home and sold it!!

Got the FJ....... love it!!!

No more chain to adjust, no sprockets. Yes I have talked to people that have rode their wee many times further than I have cross country, some with two up and loved it.

I don't know how they did it! New seat, suspension upgrades......

Seemed like an oversized dirt bike to me.

Nice bike for what it was.

It would make a great starter bike or second bike for in town travel. (5000 rpm on the hiway)

But it did shift nice!!!

My opinion only.......

I just sold me weestrom and I pick up my new to me 07 FJR Saturday. I found the wee to be a great bike but the lack of power irritated me after 6 months. Its fine and adequate for the first few months, but then adequate isnt enough. After a while getting in my truck, it felt faster than the bike....which told me by bike is too slow. Long stints on the freeway and it just doesnt cut the muster here in California where the flow of traffic can 80+mph.

Had a versys for two years (similar to wee strom)and traded in on fjr. FJR is much heavier than the versys, but superior everywhere else. (better power, longer range, more goodies...) The only time the versys would be a better bike is in the really twisty stuff (rode the Dragon several times, etc.....) Depends on how you want to ride. If I was just in town, the smaller bikes would make more sense. All I tend to do is tour (32 days tour last summer)

+1, I had a Versys too, great bike! But the FJR does almost everything much better!
