Weird Tire wear

I have about 3500 miles on the Avon 45/46 "B"combo. I am noticing "paddles" forming on the rear sides only on one of the sipes... every sipe on the rear has a lip higher than in front.

Does this sound normal? :unsure: Did i explain it well enough? :erm:

After reading that article, My tires are "scalloping" (Thanks, Mr. Tire)=Really good traction and griping when it should...

I feel better now.

What's a "sipe"? Is it an animal we can hunt? Kinda like hunting snipes on cheers?

I'm pretty sure that you should be running the standard version, not the B version of the tire. Something about the B version being made to take autobahn runs, and actually gets less milage than the standard.

 
I wanted the standard "A" tire, But the"B" came in and i was not going to wait to put them on...

HOWEVER,

These tires really stick! If the "A" has the same grip, I will go that route next time

 
Hi Adam, you should of had those tire worn out long ago... My tires did the same thing. Look like a wickerbill, flaired out on the trailing edge before the next snipe. What does this tells you..... It says your on the gas brother!!! :D All my rear tire did that, from a heavy right hand off the corners.. Keep up the good work. :punk: smitty

A sipe is the grooves in the tire that channels water out. I think thats right? :eh:

Sipes are the narrow, knife like cuts in the small tire blocks you see on wet weather or winter tires. The larger grooves or channels that characterize the tire tread pattern are usually called....grooves..or channels. Performance tires for dry pavement don't usually have any sipes per se. Sipes are seen in specific wet weather tires and snow and winter tires especially. Each sipe proves a gripping surface or edge on ice or wet pavement. Sipes allow movement of the tread block, however, not something you want on performance tires for dry pavement or high speeds/loads. Not many of the performance street bike tires have anything I would call sipes exactly. Look at a set of Blizzack winter tires for a car and you will LOTS of sipes.
