Well, it's that time.

Ready to replace Remi-I with Remi_II....next FJR.

.

. I thought about taking a kool-aid sip and looking at BMW, but I don't want to afford the upkeep.

. I thought about C II, but anything in the range I want to spend would be 08, maybe 09 with too many (negligible) issues.

. So, it's FJR...oh yea!!! Wife said, how about getting a new one...Nice supportive gesture.

Had a line on one in the Golden Triangle area, 06' w/17k for $5800.00 (Well, missed that sweet deal by a day before christmas,-bike sold)

Drooled over an 08 @ oklahoma dealership, it was sold by the time I saw the ad..

.

So, there are 2 06' @ local dealers 32k for $6900.00....haven't tried negotiations yet.

Why the 06', wife says she really like the blue color...does not like the 07' Black cherry :(

.

I have seen some wicked for sale ads out there for FJR's.

Some 05's 1k more than 06's..????

Some private owners are so over priced, I think they are just throwing a number up there to appease the wife, that they are selling and don't want to.

Some nice dealer deals, except they are four states away....

Not ready to do a long ride on the ankle just yet....but with that...a great deal is a great deal...and have had some forum members offer to help...super great.

So, if you guys see a local ad that is not circulating on the forum or cycle trader- really would appreciate a link to this thread.

Thanks,

Happy New Year!

Great to see you're back on your feet (ankles?) and back in the hunt. :clapping: :clapping:

Will keep an eye out. I'm assuming you've checked at Cycle Shack North already? Also might give a ring to the Yamaha shop in Brenham, that's where I got mine (the owner is a county traffic judge, he gives you one free get-out-of-ticket coupon with the FJR purchase   )

Yea, checked them out today while helping Mom finish moving in.

They had an 07' w/20k miles for $6599.00, got excited, but when called it was sold..... :(

It let's me know even dealers are starting to deal.

Therefore going a couple states for a bike, and spending an additional $300-$500 in shipping or riding back,

will be more costly, unless the bike is youthful in mileage for a great price.

Not to mention the title issues they may arise across state lines.

.

Thanks for the Brenham tip. I am finding that a lot of dealerships are not updating their

sites or offerings quickly, and they are sitting on some pre-owned gems..can't depend on the internet.

RR.

OK,guys there seem to be some nice AE models out there.

.

But my mind will not wrap around that clutchless system...

I notice a few folks around here are riding them....help me see the light with the AE.

.

Did some Googling, and could not find any discussion on this forum board,,,although I know it exists.

.

The Motorcyclist magazine 09' February comparo : was not positive at all with the AE model.

.

Any links to some good forum discussion on the AE and riding them?

You need to Google more ! :D

I read every AE discussion on the board and there's quite a few. Everyone that has one loves it, and would buy another if they totalled there bike, is the info I read. Only one person ( Shane Stump ) hated it and I believe it was really inept dealerships that could not address his problems with the bike.

Your correct there are a lot of AE deals out there at this time. I picked one up ! :D

And this is for RadioHowie, the biggest AE hater of all, who stalks all AE threads, like he knows anything :****:

There was an '06 A at Wild West Honda before Christmas but it seems to have been sold. Might check TWTEX.

There's a nice '08 with 2900 miles for sale on FJRiders.com. Asking around 9k if I remember right and it has some farkles.

Thanks, will go check it out.

Just missed an 07 AE, right in my area...again.

Finding out these Craigslist ads and Cycletrader ads, just aren't updated quick enough.

I am going to have to dedicate some serious hourly checks to catch my next Remington-FJR...

.

Good news is thanks to my neighbor 'BwanaDik' forum member, I will be expanding my search to include AE model as well.

Searching...searching...

Here's a trick: Go to CrazedList

You can search your entire SouthWest area for FJR1300's at once.

CraigsList doesn't remove the ads until they expire. It's up to the sellers to remove them when the bike sells.

RR,

I think I'll be looking with you here in Houston after the new year (you know, when I'm back to work, away from the wife and kids and have time for such things!). I need to get in another ride or two on one, then I should be ready to pull the trigger.

I'm hoping to get a 2004-05 ABS for $4500-$5000 (which is KBB trade-in value) with less than 20K miles, but I might be willing to shell out the extra cash if another 06 showed up for $5800 like that one in the Golden Triangle area we talked about.

Best of luck in your hunt!

Well, FordBoy33, I tell you this has turned out to be quite an ordeal.,

Search everyday even attempted to tender an offer toward 'Bama' land, however a 07' on Craigslist that was available here

said the bike that was sold, was now for sale again. So, I pulled back on 'Bama' and started talking to the local

seller about his 07'. Told him I was ready to buy by Saturday, New Years Day.

Well, he said he had too much going on at home readying for guest, and did not have time to take my money??????

I patiently waited for Sunday evening to arrive, (as we had agreed on that time). Called him

to tell him I am ready to come look and take possession, then he told me he was flying out of town, won't be back till

Thursday. Mind you this private owner/seller is 2 miles from my own house, which he knows.

.

I am totally perplexed on waiting for this guy and why he won't take my money.

Now, do I wait a whole 4 days, or pursue something else. I know the dealership's 06' is good looking, but

you just never feel comfortable with a bike that you can't lay eyes on the owner about.....especially from a small dealership.

Good luck with finding your's. Then the 06' at Bob Lundsford on 45, the owner took it home, and it has not been available to see.

.

Didn't think it would be this difficult...during these times. I sure don't wanna do a long distance ship/ride.

Now, do I wait a whole 4 days, or pursue something else.
Why is it a "one or the other" thing? Why not pursue something else, and if in four days you don't find something you like, and the flaky guy finally comes through, go with that one. For all you know, he'll blow you off again in four days.
