I will be doing some R&R for a month in February, basing out of Anna Maria Island in the Tampa Bay area.

I'm planning to drag my V-Strom with me, and could use some suggestions on roads to ride for day trips when I can't stand walking the beach and drinking beer any longer. :p

I used to live in the Melbourne/Beaches area, and know the east central part of the state pretty good, but I have no idea about what is available in the non-4-lane way of roads on the west side of the state. I'd like to get away from the traffic and just kick back without being bored to death. (I know: the elevation varies something like 50 feet and the only tight curves are on the on/off ramps-- but there must be something of interest out there.)

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Don't ride in the areas south of Tampa but if you want to venture north and east of Tampa I could give some suggestions. Do you have a GPS? I could make some routes and email them to you.

Screwball

PM sent. Thanks.

Give me a holler when you get in or closer to when you get here. There are some nice areas south of tampa and would be happy to direct you or you can ride with us(if you aren't a crazy rider).

Sounds good. "Misery loves company", as they say. I'll keep in touch.

I am watching this thread closely since I will be in the area the third week in april, I will be in Treasure island watching the drummers at sunset then who knows at this point.

You might check the Stromtrooper's forum too. I made a similar thread in Florida troopers and there have been some suggestions.

Regret my last Scottie won't be making the trip with me, as I had to put him to sleep a few hours ago. So I am going to take a couple of days off from the forums.
