Day one.

Tuesday, July 12th

Departed Eureka 08:00 hrs, cool weather, 59 deg, low coastal fog already starting to break with patches of blue showing, its gonna be a nice day here.... I head east on Hwy 299 into the caldron,,, NOT! a cooling trend is hitting the inlands and only experienced a high of 82 degs, and that was in Redding. I had planned well for this trip into the heat, new iceberg vest, new air flow jacket, new camelbak. did not need them, in fact, once I hit 395 in Oregon, withn the temp @ 77 deg, I was too cold in the airflow jacket, changed out to my normal jacket.

Highway 395 in sw oregon, is vacant, I was expermenting with my new Cruise control to see what would happen if set at 100mph, it holds firm at 100 and left it there for 4-5 minutes! this was on 395 south of the hwy 20 junction. got in to Burns Oregon at 19:15 hrs, total milage 504, opps, did not mean to make so many miles, just had a destination set.

Tomorrow, Certified Candy Butt ride, 229 miles, head east to Kuna Idaho, visit a cousin and an aunt. Then pop into Mt. Home and hookup with FJRay and have dinner.

Day Two,

Wed, July 13.

Awoke at 06:00 hrs, grabbed a cup of coffee and watched the rain from the balcony as 3 H-D riders and a Ducati rider loaded their bikes in the rain, I thought it odd, only the guy on the Ducati seemed to be prepared for the weather, the pirates had only their leather jackets and chaps for rain protection, I watched the weather channel radar and had another cup of coffee. I only have a total of 240-250 miles today. No need to rush the morning, have another cup of coffee! The rain stopped by 08:45, bike packed and out by 09:15.

Yesterday was Rock and roll on the Ipod, today with the grey overcast skies, classical music fit the bill, so first up, Ava Maria violin solo was stirring, out on the high desert, Raphsody in blue perked up my morning.

A visit with my cousins and Aunt in Kuna, Great lunch on the patio under the grape trellis, very pleasant and cool in the heat of the day. On to Mt. Home, checked into the Best Western, hooked up with FJRay and Pattie for dinner at AJ's. Ray was correct, great place to eat. Huge slab of Ribs, Ray had to help me finish the full rack....

Thursday (today) will be headed to Twin Falls for the Shoshone Falls as recommended by Spud, then decision on which route to head to Idaho Falls..The ride is what its all about, getting there and being entertained on the way. we do have some rain in the forcast, no problem, I am not into in Assless chaps and leather.

I will have photos to post on this report when all is said and done.

That night we had reservations at the Sandpiper for 10, 18 turned out, joined by jazzz musician and JrFJR then by Quixote, Murray and Joe, all during a packed house. the walk to get to the restaurant, took us along the river, over a nice bridge to a locked gate for an apartment complex. Steve pointed a stones throw to the patio of the restaurant. Instead of going back all of these fat (me) old(all of us) jumped the gate, all powered by beer and scotch...

more soon

Great pics and report Eddie. It was great meeting all of you!

I took very few photos, but here are a few:

ED, Telluride (John) and Justin (Greb) discuss climbing over the rail to play in the river just above the falls. I convinced them not to do it. They said they were headed to Yosemite and would try it there. I worry about these guys...

I think I've figured out how to add a few pics. These are mostly of my little delay and ride back. I made it home and need to ride again soon but first a new front tire, it seemed a little iffy on the way home and I think I broke the cords inside. I'm eternally thankfull to spud for all his help and hope to pay it forward to anyone that needs any help in Vancouver sometime. I really appreciate all that he did for me. I'ld also like to say the Red Lion Idaho Falls is a pretty good place to stay. I used thier airport coutesy van like my personal limo. I gotta say the Harley Dealer was great and for $65 cash Eagle Rock Transmission and Wheel straightening was fantastic. I tried to get a pic of the machine they used to straighten the rim but the owner wasn't going to let me. He seemed to have a patent conspiracy theory that the rim manufacuters are trying to get rid of all these machines. It looked like a basice tire machine with a big frame around it and I didn't see him do it but I'm guessing it has some sort of hydralic presses that pushe the rim back into shape. It worked fantastic and left a battle scar but is round and

Don't run this over

oh yeah, WTF next? , where to next year? any thoughts? I'm in, but maybe somewhere outside Idaho. Then again maybe I need to keep coming back untill it stops doing stuff to me. Last year it was a stator in Boise.

Dear Quixote, you Canadians have just got to stop hitting things laying in the road, it really is much easier to just ride around debris! Here is Matt's (mattster31) front rim after hitting a block of wood on his way to CFR 2012, New Brunswick.
