WeSTOC 23 - Baker City, OR - August 27 - 30, 2018

Yes, WeSTOC was originally started as a Honda ST rally (WarChild was one of the founders), but after 23 years we have many riders who have moved on to other bikes, including FJRs and I'm one of them! If you're interested in hanging out with other sport touring riders, going on rides, drinking beer and telling lies WeSTOC could be for you.

The 2018 rally will be held at the Best Western Sunridge Inn in Baker City, OR. Your rally fee includes two hotel-catered meals: dinner at the Monday riders’ meeting and the buffet at Thursday’s WeSTOC 23 banquet.

Looks like fun and is a great ride from my hometown there through central ID, but those dates are tough as it's a monday through thursday.... Any reason you didn't hook it onto a weekend?

I actually thought the same thing then I remembered I'm going to retire at the end of January!

This has always been a mid-week event for a few reasons.

1. Less traffic riding on the weekdays

2. We typically have people coming in from all over the country and even attract International attendees from time to time. The mid-week event gives people coming from distance the weekends to get there and back.

3. Cheaper hotel rates

4. Cheaper banquet costs

I usually front or back load my trip and make it 10 days to 2 weeks. I also take a "recon" run in the spring to shoot video for the riders meeting and to have another excuse to go for a long ride. The weekend rallies are fun too but I <really> like hitting the road for extended rides with my buddies. I ride during the event but do longer days on the way to and from the rally, then do some relaxing and socializing during the event. It's all good!

Thanks for the explanation, I might consider hitting the first part.... Baker City is less than 6 hours from me if I burn the 84 slab, which is 80mph all the way to OR.

I've never ridden in Oregon, Idaho, or or Washington. Is there any good riding or things to see there?

The Motorcycle school will be slowed down to a crawl by the last week in August and I've been trying to squeeze in a trip out to the North West for years. I'll be giving this some serious thought.

You won't like riding across Idaho to get to Baker City. The road (lolo pass) is very twisty and follows a river through the wilderness.

Highway 21 through Stanley and Idaho City has the same problem. I'd suggest you head south to I-80, then take a right at Winemucca to avoid this state...

It would be great to see some of the FJR forum members at the WeSTOC! The core group of WeSTOC attendees who have been coming for about 2 decades are a friendly, knowledgeable group people from all walks of life from all over the country and the world. You all made me feel more than welcome when I bought my FJR and learned about this forum and the local PNW events. The WeSTOC crowd is virtually an identical group of people to the FJR crowd I've met. All passionate about motorcycles and Sport Touring who just happened to meet through what started an email newsletter around about 1993.

Rumor has it a couple from the Netherlands, Hans and Wineke, will be joining us again this year. They keep an ST1100 on a farm in Walla Walla and have been coming to the US for motorcycle vacations, which include WeSTOC, about every other year. A few of us have been fortunate enough to visit them at their home and ride one of their bikes through Europe.

Many of my best friends are people I've met and see every year at WeSTOC. You all are most welcome to come join us!
